Hi all,

I inquired at Maison Militaire, the new owners of the Trophy line regarding a few vintage sets. Interesting news, a lot of the old moulds are either missing or no longer usable, not good news for some of us trying to obtain an older model, like the C63 Hansom Cab Holmes set. IT is gone, so no luck there. It will be interesting to see what is produced, obviously will be a little different than what we are used to!

No,
but the words used were "a lot".

Not the greatest news today that's for sure,

Tom

Uh ohhhh. Looks like I picked the wrong century to quit drinking espresso!

:D It would certainly appear so. Personally, I was hoping for some of the ZW items (what else) being reissued. Perhaps, if they have the masters, new moulds could be popped if there is sufficient demand?

Maybe it's not as bad as you think. Isn't it possible that the molds got/get worn out? Also, what's to distinguish the old Trophy versus the new Trophy if they had used the old molds. Or was the whole idea of restarting Trophy just to remake what was made before?

I think Ken Jackson wants to remake the old stuff that was popular namely the AZW. He also wants to revisit the WWI stuff but in matt. He was previously involved in bringing out the Dragon Crest stuff which was basically the old Trophy Sudan stuff. He did a lot of this in matt as he felt that was the way the hobby was going. He has rereleased the Trophy WWI bus in matt and it featured on the cover of TSC last month. I personally do not hold out much hope for seeing the Zulu War stuff make a return. To make matters worse it is also rare to see the Zulu stuff on e bay. I think that range was the jewel in the crown of Trophy miniatures

Well, all the more reason for Britains to go crazy on the Zulu ranges.

Damian,
can you post a pic of the WW1 reissue?

Thanks
Tom

I had a glance at the article in TSC about these. Sorry, I don't have the magazine, but they looked okay. The pictures were a little fuzzy I think. Couldn't really get a good look at them in enough detail to judge for myself anyway, and I am on the look out for good matte WWI figs (to complement current Britains and ONTC). It would be great to be able to see these at one of the shows coming up in the next several months. Does anybody know who among dealers may be carrying these?

I don't have a scanner I am afriad. I have posted a picture of my Tropy WW1
bus under the Trophy thread. It was in gloss. I think Trophy of Texas has quite a few WWI sets left if anyone is intereseted. I will try and track down a scnanner to scan in the picture from TSC this weekend

I think you have to buy the new matt bus from Ken Jackson direct.

Thanks Damian, as I was browsing at someone else's copy I didn't have a chance to read the article in detail. Also checked his website just now and no update appears on there. I'd think he may attend the London show next week, so maybe somebody on the forum in attendance will have a chance to look at these.

No problem. However, in looking at the Maison Militaire site, looks like there is very little information about Trophy on there.

I don't think Ken keeps that site very current I am afraid.

Any News About The Napoleonic Range As One Can Never Get Enough Of Them. Hopefully Ken Offers Both Glossy And Matt. I Collect A Lot Of Kc But Trophy In Gloss Is My All Time Favorite And I Know There Are Alot Of You Out There Who Feel The Same Way, The Zulu, Boxer , Wwi Were Also Very Nice. Alot Of You Probably Do Not Have The American Revolution Sets But They Were Fantastic. Lets Hope We Find Out What Is Going On Before The Chicago Show.

I would not hold my breath. My advice ( and I am not getting paid to say this) would be to go with Mike Norris and Little Legion. He does a great Napoleonic and Zulu range. WWI and Boxer I am afraid he does not do.

Damian
