It is also great to see that they are going to do three versions of the valentine. Evidently the russians used a lot of them

I`ve read the great news here and also in another thread. Can someone scan & post pics? It will take a while before I can put my hands on the new issue and its not on K&Cs site yet...

The Valentine was the most produced British tank in WWII with about 8300 produced. About half of them went to Russia including all 1400 produced in Canada. Even though they were replaced in the west before D-Day, the Russians used them till the end of the war. About time someone made a model. Now the question is North Afrika version or Eastern Front Russian version.

What is the 3rd version K&C is going to do?

I believe I read somewhere that the 3rd version is to be a British Home Guard version, probably will look a typical olive green in British markings.

Better a north africa version...I think it was not so much appreciated by the russians....^&grin

lend lease, desert, and possibly a home front trainer but, what about a German captured painted in grey?? I think this would be the pick of the bunch myself and, would fit in well with the current theme of eastern front. K&C could then have four versions (commission can be given for the idea via PayPal Andy!!LOL)

anyway just a thought

I like the new AK Halftrack myself and will wait for a ETO paintscheme on the Valentine tank.

Actually the Russians quite liked the Valentine. A few weeks ago the Poles pulled a Mk IX out of a bog.

The Russians did appreciate them and actually said so - one of the few lend lease western AFVs they ever commented favourably on. Later in the war when the Allies were going to stop Valentine production for newer types, the Russians requested that production continue and it did.

I prefer the desert version because of the camo and the importance to the 8th Army. The Russians probably got more of them than the 8th Army did, but 4000 Valentines compared to 50,000 T-34 seems less vital. Quite a few were kept for Home Guard duties. I doubt if too many Eastern Front Valetines were captured by the Germans. By the time the fist Valetines arrived, the Germans began retreating from Moscow making recovery of tanks from lost battlefields difficult.

Terry...
Apparently 47 were captured and used until destroyed or, fell apart. a good few were used as transport protection and, for recon use because of agility etc.

I don't think number though would preclude it from a K&C release option and, the Russian front is apparently popular again and, grey is in vogue

I'd have thought it was a better bet that the Germans captured more Valentines in North Afrika before Monty took over? So a captured desert Valentine is a possibility too.

Terry...

well, that's going to be a possible five versions from one AFV.

The new Valentine is a cracker but i think a captured one in AK markings would be a good release as well.
