Richard Conte has finally updated his news page. It's quite an interesting read, evidently he's had to move on a number of staff and make all sorts of changes. It bodes well for more new product coming through though.

By the way does anyone know who he refers to when he goes on about people spreading rumours and trying to bring him down. He's made similar noises in the past but he's particularly fired up now! Some 'dealers' have been cut off it seems. Anyone know the inside story?

I think some of the rumours are more discussions from curious collectors, such as a nuber of threads here on TF, as well as elsewhere. RC seems not to engage with collectors via forums a much as some of the other manufacturers, and so when things go a bit quiet, colectors start getting talking about what might be happening.

I think a fair few dealers have been a bit disgruntled in their dealings with Conte, firstly, due to a lack of available stock to retail, and secondly, and more recently, with Conte hitting ebay directly with significant discounts that the dealers can't mactch without losing money.

I don't know what's being going on within Conte itself, but you're right, he does seem to have got worked up about it.

Hopefully, the production and supply issues will pick up, and we'll see Conte doing stuff that Conte does well (more buildings please.....and more Spartans.....and Persians......and let's not forget our patient ZW brigade.....)

Yes. I've read his post again and I guess if a few dealers no longer carry his product then we might be a bit wiser.

I can understand if some of the tension rose due to the gap between product promises and their eventual arrival. It's the nature of the hobby though. People want to know what's coming, get their hopes up, which are dashed if something goes wrong. Personally, I'm just so happy he's in the hobby at all. He's made things I'd only dreamed of. The Spartans promise so much for the future.

It's good news that he's taking a closer interest in things. Once he's got his warehousing and staffing fixed he should be able to get new product flowing again.

Good news indeed! My selfish desires are for the completion of the metal Spartans and Immortals, with the terrain pieces noted on Conte's website long ago. I just love his Spartans; such powerful and emotive figures.

A few years ago Conte was going to have Saloon Girls but so far no.
