News Update & Pre-order January 30, 2022 - WWII German Armor (1 Viewer)

These look great. I would have preferred different camo on the three models. Do not believe there was a factory 251 ausf D camo scheme, but who knows. Would be great to see some JJD panzergrenadiers with accurate gear for the Peiper group. Would love to see those figures in John’s style!

I don't now the actual price in Germany for the Sd.Kfz. 251 (not on the homepage yet) but when I take the price for the JJF GA-40 Panther, in Germany at https://www.hadriansvilla.de/John Jenkins.htm for example you paid 388 Euros not over 500 like in Italy when I read right. I ordered in the past when I buought new stuff from TGM or JJD at Hadriansvilla, fast sending, very friendly, you can ask for preorders ( I ordered the ME-262 NF version :)).
But of course, you pay for delivering and VAT.

I’ve been buying models from him for many years, he’s great to deal with and goes the extra mile for his customers, he does not overcharge customers, period. The additional costs levied against goods imported into the UK are horrendous compared to other countries. I doubt very much if items purchased from the US or Europe and all due charges are paid as legally required that things would be much cheaper if at all. I support UK dealers whenever I can and have pre-ordered all three from the UK dealer.

Thanks, interesting point of view and that is what the forum is about. One sentence struck me,

‘The additional costs levied against goods imported into the UK are horrendous compared to other countries’

I would like to know the value of ‘horrendous’, not an economic measurement/value I am aware of? We are not looking at a multiple of countries but just the US and the UK. From my reading and limited experience the import duties from China are not that much different between the 2 countries, with the US actually looking a bit higher.

You have to get out of the mindset of being a collector and buying a few pieces, which in the US are treated differently to the UK. As the UK dealer and the multiple dealers in the US import thousands of $/£ worth of Toy Soldiers in bulk, so there is a different scale and it is those costs that are similar. Do not bring BREXIT into the conversation as these are good from outside the UK/EU so costs would not have changed since that awful decision [sorry opinion slipping in there].

However, I bow to your obvious greater knowledge on this situation and look forward to you pointing out what are the major ‘horrendous’ costs between the two countries…………….because you would not just put that without any knowledge! That would make you look silly.

Prices are higher in the UK, generally we tend to pay parity £ to $, but in the last few years this has been creeping up.

I’ll agree with you on Brexit. FYI, I buy a lot more than a few pieces annually from a range of dealers here in the UK and outwith the UK. No need for your sarcasm, I stand by my “interesting point of view” and if I look “silly” in your eyes I really couldn’t care less.

Threads getting a bit silly, almost turning into a K & C thread from a couple of years ago [that’s a joke].
If you Jocks carry on like this, arguing, they could put tanks and troops onto streets like they did on Feb 1[SUP]st[/SUP] 1919 or Miss Jean Brody to give you a telling off, Muriel Spark who wrote The Prime of Miss Jean Brody was born today in 1918. So there is a link to my madness of the two things I just suggested.

The prices are what they are and either buy or not, people can charge what they see fit, if they get it wrong then they are stuck with stock and have to reduce prices. The UK prices for TS have always been high, we could discuss why forever, look back at threads when there was a K & C UK and there is a lot of heated discussion there. You can just look at Magpies, probably the largest UK retailer of TS [if I am wrong, I would be delighted to find a retailer with larger amount of stock], some of their prices on newer stuff for K & C are higher in £ sterling than the $ dollar price on the K & C website.

I buy off Clive and a couple of times when he has asked me if I want others in the ranges I buy from JJD, I am upfront with him and tell him I can get them cheaper elsewhere, have bought them cheaper or been offered it cheaper and he accepts that. He knows I am a bit of ‘dealer tart’ and go where I get the best deal. I never tell him what I have been quoted and ask for a better deal because if I am offered a set or figures at a certain price I either say yes or no and if yes buy it, there is not enough of a saving to try and play dealers off against each other. By the way at the Dec 22 show I bought the Figarti Churchill AVRE for my Normandy diorama, from Clive and will put in an order for March 2023, have my eye on some French WW1.

Can we draw a line under the pricing issue and actually talk about the halftracks, to that I have a question. Are they painted camo inside? From the pictures it looks like they are and I am not actually sure the original vehicles were!

Yes, there were standardized factory camo schemes for the 251 SPWs. Like tanks, there were a couple variations. The camo pictured above is one such camo scheme and was how a number of Kampfgruppe Peiper’s SPWs looked. Part of why it was chosen is it also looks like how LAH painted some of their armored vehicles in Normandy. So while they are meant for the Bulge, they really work for Normandy fine too.

Since you put it like that, who am I to argue 😂😂😂

Argue - You are Scottish and I am English, i am sure there is something we could think of..........haha. Unless we find a BREXITEER or a current Tory MP, plus for me SNP, then i think we would join forces.

😂😂😂 brexiteers are hard to find these days.

Hi

I understand the exterior camo, as have read enough on that and i have a multitute of books on the battle, 168 as an exact count, can send list to anyone who wants a list of books on the Battle of the Bulge, i do a trip there every 2 to 3 years. For those not visited region, there is great museums and things to see to do with the battle, Beer and everything they seem eat comes with Fries, except for the great chocolate and waffles. What more can you need?

I was thinking of the interior colours as it looked like the interior was in camo colour as well, but having blown up the photos it is just shadows. As the interior was painted in the base colour of the exterior.

I know they are hard to find and when you think only nearly 7 years ago there was millions of them. Reminds me of when i was stationed in Germany in the 1980s [only for 3 months and then 6 months as an Embassy guard in Berlin], when we used to meet Germans that had served in WW2, they all served in Russia, none on the Western Front.

I like the 251/9 and would order the others if the camo was different.
There is still time to change the camo if these things will not be released in 7-8 months!

[FONT=&quot]I'm curious which version do ya'll like the best?[/FONT]

If I had to choose one, I’d go with the SdKfz 251/9; however, I couldn’t decide and so have preordered all three. I’m wondering if the interiors are all the same or if there’s some modifications between them, like the ammo storage box on the 251/9. Also wonder if the bridge sections on the Pioneerpanzerwagen are removable… Would be neat if they are!

There are a ton of other SdKfz 251 variants John could do. I’d personally like to see a SdKfz 251/1 Stuka zu Fuss with the rocket racks and especially the SdKfz 251/22 with the Pak-40.
