Bugs.jpgIndian.jpg Something different in figures....Chess Set figures by Franklin Mint...Indian Chess Set and a Looney Tune's set....figures every bit if not better than the top quality TS makers....I have an unpainted chess set of Waterloo... each .Pawns is a soldier from separate regiments that fought at Waterloo....very small and very detailed....it is my TS soldier collection you might say...TomB

Very nice Tom but would you allow kiddies or young teenagers to have a game of chess, what with ice-cream hands and all! {sm4}

Tom

Wife gave me this set from UK about 34 yrs ago. Each fig is a different personality, King George, Cornwallis, Betsy Ross, Ben Franklin, Tower of London, Independence hall, etc. I have another four sets of different themes, ACW, etc, not painted though. Chris

That's a very nice set Tom. Like the individual pawns, that's a very intricate board. Thanks for starting this thread, we may get to see some interesting sets. May have to drag out my ACW and Elizabethan pieces. I have a Watergate set, all the personalities of the scandal. :smile2: Chris

Please post your Chess Set pictures....apart from the subject ACW etc...the figures are certainly of interest.......the Watergate set sounds interesting...they all sound interesting....be nice to see some figures that are not WW2.....those figures are great ofcourse but something a bit different now and again is good for the soul...so they say......How many Chess Sets have you ?.....darn expensive things to collect...even more expensive than TS......the Elizabethan set would be something worth seeing...Heck...they all are.....cheers TomB

Tom, here's the Elizabethan set, one of my favorites. Bought it in a shop in Mildenhall Village, England about 35 yrs ago. This set is still available commercially. Pawns are the Golden Hind, Drake's ship, other pieces: Traitor's Tower, Sir Walter Raleigh, Lord Burghley, Matthe Parker. Chris

Thanks Tom, will try to post the Watergate set this weekend. It's an amusing and unique chess set by the same company that does the Elizabethan pieces. Chris

Hi TOm, last set, ACW. Bishops are Lee & Jackson, Grant & Sherman, kings and queens are the Davis's and Lincolns of course. There was also a painted version, similar to the Revolutionary War set posted earlier. Regret I didn't get that one 30+ yrs ago. Pity no one else has posted here, good subject. Chris

Just saw this thread. Great sets, guys. Love the Indian Mutiny and ARW sets. I'm a chess fan but I'm afraid the only chess set I have is the old style Staunton. -- Al
