Beautiful Chess Set...love to play a game with it.....My Waterloo set is not painted but very detailed ...the pawns are troops of different Reg's that fought at Waterloo....the chess board has seen better days.....a few battle's have been fought over it...thanks for sharing...TomBWife gave me this set from UK about 34 yrs ago. Each fig is a different personality, King George, Cornwallis, Betsy Ross, Ben Franklin, Tower of London, Independence hall, etc. I have another four sets of different themes, ACW, etc, not painted though. Please post your Chess Set pictures....apart from the subject ACW etc...the figures are certainly of interest.......the Watergate set sounds interesting...they all sound interesting....be nice to see some figures that are not WW2.....those figures are great ofcourse but something a bit different now and again is good for the soul...so they say......How many Chess Sets have you ?.....darn expensive things to collect...even more expensive than TS......the Elizabethan set would be something worth seeing...Heck...they all are.....cheers TomBThat's a very nice set Tom. Like the individual pawns, that's a very intricate board. Thanks for starting this thread, we may get to see some interesting sets. May have to drag out my ACW and Elizabethan pieces. I have a Watergate set, all the personalities of the scandal. :smile2: Chris

Thanks for that...very nice piece's...ofcourse with Raleigh and Drake...what else could you use as pawns ?.....Piece's of Eight ?...joke....how about the ACW set...I am sure someone would be interested in seeing that set.....even if members dont play chess..the figures are very interesting....thanks for sharing...TomTom, here's the Elizabethan set, one of my favorites. Bought it in a shop in Mildenhall Village, England about 35 yrs ago. This set is still available commercially. Pawns are the Golden Hind, Drake's ship, other pieces: Traitor's Tower, Sir Walter Raleigh, Lord Burghley, Matthe Parker. Chris

Would love a cent for every Staunton set sold.....simple but brilliant design.....look modern but I think they were first made in the 18 century .....thanks for the post...TomBJust saw this thread. Great sets, guys. Love the Indian Mutiny and ARW sets. I'm a chess fan but I'm afraid the only chess set I have is the old style Staunton. -- Al
