We are pleased to present our rendition of the German 6th Parachute regiment at Normandy in 1944. Together with the 17th SS Panzer Grenadier Division, these troops counterattacked at Carentan against the 101st Airborne at the Battle of Bloody Gulch thus making them the perfect complement to our Waffen SS and US Airborne figures. With beautiful sculpting and hand painting, these figures are certainly the finest of their kind and will make a wonderful addition to any serious WWII historical figure collection. We sincerely hope you enjoy them!

WOW....Must get a few of these....Superb....As usual....First Legion Rules:salute::

Great set of figures - like the variation on the helmets, also that FL have fixed the ammo-feed problem on the MG-42.

I second this motion-WOW is right! Matt and the First Legion team continue to hit "grand slams" with their releases! I will be adding a few of these figures to my growing Normandy collection. What a way to start off the new year!!! {bravo}}

Nor33, 34, and 27 are the best IMO and, will be bought to do a small FJ dio. good that the belt on the MG42 was corrected. Not sure on the remaining just something about them for me. I usually look at figures and instantly like or dislike something about them of feel funny about something on them from all manufacturers and, this is how I feel about the remaining sets

A great start to the new Year!! the newsletter has something for almost every line and for me the FJs will all be making a trip West at some point West being Arizona that is! :) again the detail on the smocks/ jackets look to be outstanding as well as the weapons and accessories, and maybe its just me but the German helmet worn by Nor 30 seems to be more defined, these sets will tie in nicely with my SS range, well done First Legion for all the new releases and a great newsletter...Sammy

Those do look great! Matt, you are going to cause me to go without food if you keep releasing such wonderful WWII and American Civil War figures!! :mad:

Cameron,

I can mail ramen noodles to you should you run out of food!

Best,

Alex :wink2:

SO...about four years ago, I sold ALL my Normandy related vehicles and figures from other makers, trying to maintain focus on BoB and Crusaders sets...

THEN...along comes First Legion and I've now got all these great looking Grey vehicles and figures for early Russian front...

NOW...I simply have to get back into Normandy with these awesome FJ's (not to mention SS and US Airborne figs).

Curse you FL, you got me again :salute::

With regards, the figures, I love the variety of figures/poses and especially the variety of headgear and smocks. By 1944, units were in 'garage sale' mode, using whatever they could lay their hands on and this is reflected nicely in these guys. I noticed they adjusted the belt on the MG as well.

A Panzerschrek set and a Panzerfaust set and no one to use them against. Can a Sherman be on the way? :)

Terry

The prone MG-42 gunner/assistant gunner and the runner w/ ammo cans are the pick of the lot IMO. Just these three figures would make a great scene. Hmmmm, combine these with some of the Waffen SS and a Figarti Panther and you've got a pretty accurate Battle of Bulge Kampfgruppe Peiper at Stoumont (for you Duel in the Mist fans)!

I'm a little dissapointed none of them are armed with an FG-42, though. I was hoping there would be a kneeling figure or prone figure firing a model II FG-42 w/ bipod extended.

And I second the notion that we need some Normandy armor.

Hi Sammy,
I would like to see the figures a bit closer up and will when I get mine :wink2: you have a good eye it looks to me as if Nor 30 & 31 are not wearing para Helms at all and 30 looks like a M1942 a little hard to see from these shots. I'm a uniforms and equipment guy and also really love the mix here to include the Lieutenants early pattern smock. I would have loved to seen a Tan and Water pattern smock thrown in but these Splinter pattern ones really do look well done. Like I said I'd like to see closer pictures to have a better look I really would like a closer look at those second model jump books, yea I'll be counting the laces on those as well:redface2:. Hey I hold FL to a higher standard and find they really do deliver...regards Gebhard

Now that FL have produced US Paras, and that German Fallschirmjaegers are imminent, hopefully somewhere on FL's production planning schedule are British "Red Berets" (Pegasus Bridge or Merville Battery) to join them on the Normandy battlefield, particularly in this 70th anniversary year.

In fact, so far in their WWII ranges, FL have produced Soviets, Germans and Americans - so it's about time they were joined by some Brits!

Unfortunately I think I'm going to have to pass on these figures. Considering how well done the equipment details and painting on the camo smocks is, this is not an easy decision.

The problem for me, RAL 7028 "Dunkelgelb".

The equipment painted in this color, helmets, ammo cans, Panzerschreck, Panzerfaust etc. is just not close enough to pass as standard variation of the real color. I found this with the Panzerschreck and Panzerfaust on the SS figures as well. The color is simply too bright and too yellow.

RAL 7028 is a complex color and depending on the lighting can look more tan, grey or yellow. It is a subdued color and shouldn't appear strongly tan or yellow.

It's a very valid point. I DO hope the finished product is closer to the Dunkelgelb spec.

I Agree Frank....My only concern regarding these Fallschirmjagers are the helmuts on some of these might be "too bright" (yellow):(....Dunkelgelb???? RAL7028.......hopefully this is not the case as otherwise these look like excellent figures....we will need some actual photos.

The SS figures with equipment in this color, like this shot of the panzerschreck was the first time I became concerned with FLs decision on representation of RAL7028. A few small pieces of equipment I could overlook but considering the importance of this color for the 1943-45 period it needs to remedied prior to a vehicle being released in this color.

Here are some comparison shots

I think this is a good example of factory fresh, unfaded, clean RAL 7028. Much duller than the yellow on the helmet which has an orange tinge

Hi Frank,
A very valid point, I applaud your " Purist " Stance . I'm blinded by the Camo Patterns and depictions of the equipment, which are incredible. I support you efforts, after all if successful they will only benefit us all in the end by having a more Historically perfect product . Regards Gebhard

I personally wonder if it isn't a matter of photography. Something about FL's photos is always off to me. They never truly do the figures justice or even look similar to photos by members of the forum. In fact I stayed away from their products for the longest because of their pics (and scale concerns). Just my two cents, either way. I'm sure they will be awesome figures.
Best,
Josh
