The windows are clear plastic and metal screen cut to size and placed sideways to look like diomond shaped lead windows. They are held in place by a wooden frame made from skinny sticks, which are craft sticks sold by the bag that are a bit thinner then popsicle sticks and without the rounded ends.
The roof itself was made of broken popsicle sticks hot glued on. I also used full sticks of balsa wood for the timbered trim of the house. Its the same width and pretty much size as the skinny sticks so I could use either or for the trim, wich is nice because the skinny sticks are cheaper so I used some of them on the trim also.
The flower pots are a mix of popsicle sticks and skinny sticks and the flowers are just painted onto some green woodland scenic tree making foam type material. I used the same stuff to make the trees on the sides and also the vines growing up the side of the building also.
The wood grain on the floors in front of the building and the door on the second floor are carved into the foam. the other 3 doors are skinny sticks and the braces on the door were cut from plastic and painted black.
All I could find hanging around was clear plastic so I had to paint both sides.
The door handles are links from keychains glued onto clear plastic painted black also. I just cut out little dimond shapes.
I also cut out these diamond shapes for the back of the street lamps wich were cut off from X-mas street lamps.
The bay windows were one of the hardest parts of the building and could have come out a bit better but it was my first time trying to make these.
There made from cardbourd cut and fitted with A LOT of patience and then wood trim was hot glued on. I used a finer screen on these and also some match sticks along with the skinny sticks.
This was a bit of a project because I stepped outside the box(pun) and got away from the usual boxed shaped building wich made the roof build a bit more tricky but give one a try its fun and each one you build you learn something new that,ll make the next one even better!!!
I wanted to do a how to thread on this one but my computor was messed up but now that I,ve got a new one I might try another building again soon and I,ll do a how to thread.
I,ve got some pictures of this building in progress on another thread in the how to section check them out! I also have another thread on there with another building with how to instuction also and alex has a few also as do others. You guys should give this a try and share your expirience with us as this is how we,ll be able to learn from each other.
If you guys have any questions on this stuff just ask and me or someone here will try and help you out I,m sure.
