Displays- November 30 2018
Recently had a re-launching of my miniatures displays. One of the new shelves is this US Navy WWII carrier display.
Most of the figures are from John Jenkins, but there are some King & Country. Corsair is from JJD and the Hellcat is from Hobby Master
Used the deck pieces from JJD, had to trim one to make it cover the whole shelf. Just in case someone decides to do the same, the top of the bases are in metal!

Here another shelf, where I added the recent JJD Spitfire to the other models.
Typhoon from K&C, Dauntless dive bomber from Hobby Master
P-51 Mustang from Corgi and P47 from Thomas Gunn
The figures are from King & Country and TGM

Takes a brave man to start cutting into the deck plate, but it does look neat. A head turner for these shelves. Robin.

Great looking collection you’ve got there, Egonzinc. Really like the diversity of brands.

As an aside, IKEA makes a two-door cabinet that will accommodate three of the SARA or BH JJ deck modules without modification as below:

I should note note that the BH sets would have to be aligned port to starboard, rather than fore and aft. Think that the cabinet cost half of what I paid for the deck. Heck of a deal, IMO.

Moe,
That looks great. Would love to have some space for this period as those models look fantastic. But I have no more room for other display cases... But good to know.

Robin,
Must admit that when I began to cut, I thought the attachment rails on he modelled deck were the only metal parts! When sparks started flying... yikes! You know! The ole Dremel worked overtime, then went with a circular/miter saw to complete the job. It was a one shot deal, with one base. Fall back position was to use one less base and it worked well, but not as well as filling the whole shelf.

Two more pics to illustrate how effective the cabinet is at accommodating the JJ deck sets:

Sorry for the quality (telephone pics), but they do make the point. You can stuff a LOT of models into one of these cabinets. I think that I paid like $139 + Tax for the unit. However, I live like eight miles from an IKEA store. Shipping would no doubt increase the cost considerably.

Moe, that looks great. What are the display cabinet dimensions? Looks custom made for the nook you have. Thanks. Chris

Chris, it just worked out in that space. Here's a link to the item at IKEA:

Side by side, three deck modules measure 30" wide x 15" deep. They couldn't fit any better had Jenkins ordered the unit custom made for his models.

The JJD Corsair and Hobby Master Hellcat work well together and with the JJD figures in your excellent photos. Wonderful display!

Unfortunately I don't have any more space, but if I did, I would certainly consider collecting these. I'm envious! The aircraft/figures/decks look amazing. Congratulations.

Hanging aircraft models is more realistic and preserves shelf space. A stand reduces the footprint and you can display more models at different heights. Air to air combat dioramas are a neat way to display fighters IMO.
