I'd love to Dave, but I didn't take my camera on this assignment for obvious reasons - and the only phone I brought was the cheap one with no camera. Some of the Nigerian guys have got cameras with them though, so I'll see if I can borrow one and get a few snaps of them doing "The Funky Chicken" - absolutely hilareous.
Another one - I was asked to estimate the weight of a peice of equipment. We're installing around 40 of these per well along with a bunch of other stuff and need the total weight of everything to ensure the crane is within its safe working load. So I gave it to George M'Kembe and asked what he thought.
"Mmmm...around 3kg Mistaah Harry."
"What makes you think that George?"
And George weighs it in his hands again....and with a slight smile and barely perceptible wink of the eye, he says,
"Mmmm...same as two chickens from the market Mistaah Harry."

True Story...!!!

Great story about your temporary colleagues market based research. I am picturing a streets of old Nigeria range now, i.e. "The chicken seller set".

Hope to see some photos with a borrowed camera, and....keep up the good work down there.

A bit surprised at the relative quiet on this normally busy thread toward months end.

Not a bad idea. Things are so fragile right now. The release of the dispatches could wreak havoc on the stock market and change the course of the election!! Release of too many American WWII figures could signal confidence in the course of the government and help the Republicans, whereas the release of too few could have the opposite effect.

Its the most anticipated thread on the forum and always provokes debate.But you raise a good point here,maybe such threads should be called 'Forthcoming dispatches'.

That has always been my approach and commented to that effect a while ago but have kept quiet, more or less since then: what's the point; people are going to do what they're going to do.
