Caption Contest 19

Saturday afternoons as my parents would do their shopping around Carmarthen town, I would usually be waiting for them in the public library.
Having read and re-read all the Tintin, and Asterix Comics, I discovered PUNCH magazine, and although all the written articles were beyond my understanding at that age, I became a big fan of their “caption Contests”! and would look forward to each new edition every visit.

Here’s one that made me laugh.

There used to be a small “cartoon store” near the British Museum in the 1980’s and I picked up a few original cartoons when I worked in London.
Recently I bought a few originals of my wife’s favourite strip cartoon “Sherman’s Lagoon”.

The jjD Caption Contests have been an annual event, from the very first year, and always reminds me at the end of the day, that we should all be having fun with this hobby. I’m extremely pleased I’ve managed to not only maintain a sense of humour over all these years, but also managed to maintain a yearly caption contest!

Due to difficulties with the jjDesigns website, this year the jjD Caption Contest will take place on the JOHN JENKINS DESIGNS FACEBOOK GROUP site.

To join the Facebook Group, it is necessary to create a Facebook Account. Once an account has been created a simple Facebook Search will lead to the JJD Facebook Group.
Finally, 4 simple questions must be answered before membership will be allowed.

Please note that the John Jenkins Designs Facebook Group, is a completely independent group from jjDesigns. It was established in March 2019, by collectors, for collectors. John Jenkins is not a member, and does not participate directly with the group.
I am extremely grateful to everyone at the group for helping to make this years caption contest possible, and for carrying on one of the important jjD traditions!


I hope that by January 2021 the new jjdesigns website will be up and running.

Until then, Many thanks to Mike Estell for putting together a picture for this years Caption Contest.

The Caption Contest #19 will run from the 27[SUP]th[/SUP] OCTOBER 2020, until the 30[SUP]th[/SUP] NOVEMBER 2020.

There will of course be prizes, and winners will be announced during December.

Once a FB account is established our group can be found with an easy search for John Jenkins Designs Collectors Group. Interested participants must be a member of the group. Ten winners will be selected. Their names, email contact address, and their caption will be sent to JJDesigns the first week of December. They will be contacted by John and his staff for prize distribution. As the Administrator of the JJD Facebook group all questions concerning the contest should be directed to me. I have agreed to help John with the contest this time. To make it easier to administer the FB group is being used as the single point of entry. I can understand your not wanting to open a FB account and your disappointment.

It was very nice of Mike to step up and make the contest happen but unfortunately I'll have to wait till next year when hopefully the contest can return to its usual format.

Thank you for your understanding Mark. As you have stated, I am sure that next year's caption contest will be administered as it has been in the past. I was looking forward to participating once again in this one but since I am helping John administering it, I have decided that it was best not to.

Concluding: Mike does an outstanding job in representing John Jenkins on Facebook and I am looking forward to the (very) regular posts of the members of the group and of Mike himself every day. So if you ever needed a reason to join FB, this would be one.

Disclosure: I am a FL fanboy, just dabbling in Jenkins. I do like the recent sculpting, the price point, disenchanted with the paint job. Crucify me.

I was on the FB group but then got deleted from it for asking a simple question about whether anyone else was having problems with the UK supplier. You’re heavy handiness has basically been a contributing factor for me now only buying John’s products on the secondary market.

I have only been the Administrator of The JJD FB for about 6 months and during that time I have never removed any body from the group. I am not aware of the situation you are referring to. I would be more than happy to reconsider you for membership in the group if you would like to join again. Please be aware that John Jenkins has no association with the group nor is he a member, so he too would have no knowledge of the situation you have mentioned. All the very best,
