Yes looks great too, changes the whole feel of the photo and brings the scene to life.
When taking photos of small dioramas, I'll often place them in front of my computer screen with an appropriate backdrop photo. For larger dioramas, I'll use a model railway backdrop of a blue sky pasted on a board, broken up with foliage or rocks etc.
Robin, having a roomy man cave where he can display his brilliant collection as I expect many of us would like to do and an artistic sister in law has many custom painted backdrops helping to bring his dioramas to life.

I don't think my 18" laptop screen in a photo behind some TS display would make a good pic using my 2&1/2yr-old android phone cam (the camera can't handle the light of the computer) but some cheap scenic background print are definitely on my short list for things to buy so I can start making some better photos. I'll work on it after I read a few more of the trove of good reads you have recommended. Always good to hear sage advice from Great Old England.
Thanks as always for the wisdom, Steve/Horus.

I like it Isaac! Best Wishes from 2 people raised in Skokie & MG,
Paddy for Pat Sr & me

Thanks Paddy and Pat

If you have a home computer printer, you can of course download something off the internet and print it off.
Another alternative are the diorama backdrops both the full and smaller sized ones done by W Britains, The large ones can look great on bookshelf displays, pasted perhaps card or some other sturdy material such as hardboard.
Also for diorama scenic items sometimes you'll see something and think, Hey I could use that as scale such and such. i.e. the netting that bulbs of Garlic often are sold in Supermarkets. painted with an acrylic "steel" metallic paint make great scale chain link fencing or painted a tinged off white or a darker brown can stand in for fishing nets. Just depends on how creative you feel and of course that other import thing of having the time !

Just go outside the best of both worlds, natural light and a back ground.
