Hi Guys,

Much as I hate to disagree with my friend Norman Joplin, I feel I should clarify his statement about his magazine.

OTSN is owned, run and edited by Old Toy Soldier enthusiast. The vast majority of articles are about old toy soldiers… Although there are show reports they tend to focus on old toy soldiers, old toy soldier dealers and collectors.

Now I know the magazine is (surprise, surprise) called ‘The Old Toy Soldier Magazine’ and perhaps that’s what I should expect. However, it’s a wee bit misleading to say the magazine ‘covers all aspects of Old and New Toy Soldiers’ when if truth be told there is a very small smattering of info about New Toy Soldiers.

K&C will still advertise in it and, as I did recently, submit an article for inclusion. But if you want to see all aspects of ‘New Toy Soldiers’ then you have to also read ‘TOY SOLDIER & MODEL FIGURE’ and ‘TOY SOLDIER COLLECTOR’ Magazines.

Hi Andy,I totally agree with you my friend,both Toy Soldier Collector and Toy Soldier and Model Figure are great publications,at OTS (The N was dropped some years ago by the previous owners after it was decided that "Newsletter" was no longer appropriate) we would welcome contributors who were able to write interesting articles and company histories on new toy soldier manufacturers, which are now becoming old "new" toy soldiers,we have been and will continue to run a series of articles by Lou Steinberg on the "New" Dimestore manufacturers and the upcoming May issue of OTS has the history of Richards and Herrings written by John Stewart,both "New" toy soldier manufacturers.
As one of the first producers of "New" Toy Soldiers during the early days of King and Country,I am sure many readers of all 3 magazines would enjoy perhaps an overview by you of those early products.
I have quite a few early leaflets ,flyers etc that were issued by K&C when you first started and would be happy to supply these as additional material if you care to write an article
Thanks for the Timpo article,it certainly received some favourable comments from collectors of old toy soldiers.

***Note to Peter,perhaps you would like to scan these in on your site one day?

I have OTSN, TS&MF, Toy Soldier Collector, and I used to get Bill Lango's magazine, until he discontinued it.

I also get FineScale Modeler for my styrene habit.
