BERLIN – A 35,000-year-old ivory carving of a busty woman found in a German cave was unveiled Wednesday by archaeologists who believe it is the oldest known sculpture of the human form. The carving found in six fragments in Germany's Hohle Fels cave depicts a woman with a swollen belly, wide-set thighs and large, protruding breasts.

When you consider that human beings genetically the same as us have existed for only between 40,000 and 60,000 years, 35,000 is going way back.

Very interesting, Russel. Thank you for sharing that.

By the way: it's in 1/32 scale, isn't it?
:D

Cheers...

LOL! I think it appears to be more of a "robust" 1/30 scale :D

In all seriousness, that is a facinating find indeed! And like Russell stated, humans as we currently are were into the hobby almost from inception!

Art history is a passion for me.

From a young age, my grandpa showed me books of how people interpreted and related to the world around them in art for over 40,000 years.

It's all amazing.

I am an art historian by training and wonder if your grandfather was as well? If so what was his specialty and where did he teach?
