Coming together very nicely, the danger I find as you work on a diorama more possibilities open up resulting in more purchases and a growing dollar value, but you are driven to bring about your ideas into reality. The scarey bit is when you add up roughly what the whole thing costs, usually it's a figure you do not believe is possible and quickly want to forget. I passed on the beach landing although the landing craft are very tempting and also knowing all the supporting items have been released with them as well. My current diorama has Commando's inland from the beach storming a bridge to hold for the DDay forces to reach intact. Should be finished soon. Will be interesting to see how yours finally turns out. Great to see how much effort and obvious enjoyment that you are getting from this project. Cheers, Robin.
Thanks a lot mate! I get what you mean, like when I first started collecting (when I was 7) I was really into the beach aspect of D-Day, but then I was shown all the different eras etc that K&C made, a beach became less of a wish. Then when I started getting really into collecting WW2 some 4 years later I got the idea of making a beach into my head but at that time King and Country did not make landing craft!:redface2: I found Arnhem '44, done some research into the battle of Arnhem and started collecting them!^&grin Throughout the years since I was 7 I have collected many ranges, Zulu, Napoleonic, Crusaders, Modern, and Second World War, but I had always wanted to make a beach but when I thought about all the costs and difficulty of getting it ready: sand, beach obstacles, landing craft, water (which was probably my first main tackle this time), and men for the diorama, it looked too difficult and time consuming. But starting re-enacting I have found out so much about the US 2nd Battalion Rangers during the war and gained lots of knowledge of D-Day it became more and more like something I would do at some point!^&grin
Finally about two months ago I just decided that it was time to try my hand at making a beach. I had a large blank area in my loft which I could visualise a beach diorama in, and I had also just read 'The Battalion', the story of the US 2nd Battalion Rangers during the Second World War, and I was getting my original invasion gear ready formy re-enacting and I decided to try and see if I could find the older Ranger sets!^&grin
Making a beach landing was always something I wanted to do so finally got to do it!^&grin
Since posting the previous pictures I have added more anti-tank obstacles on the sand and in the water! Soon going to add 3 more landing craft and the newer Rangers Sets!
