“Standing under the desert sun next to the Panzer’s empty metal carcass, his thoughts returned to his aunt’s house in Brighton where on many youthful summer afternoons he dreamed of the days of chivalry playing with his armoured knights on the porch that faced the ever changing sea.” – Geoffrey Clarke On A Sea of Sand: A Novel of War In the Western Desert

Grisaille* illustration based upon a scene from the book

*GRISAILLE - A MONOCHROME TECHNIQUE
