Well guys, here is my "First Attempt" and making a diorama. {sm2}
Also a new camera and trying to figure out how to post a picture on here. {sm2} {sm2}

I have a bunch that I want to try to post and then I will tell you about the items

I'll call this series -- On the Road to Chippewa!

An US officer has a problem in that his horse has thrown a shoe. Handy that the blacksmith was just around the corner! The blacksmith has traded his services for some cutting of wood from the Company's Sappers.

Another officer is trying to keep the column moving. After all the British won't wait all day!

Hey Larry....very cool...love the storyline...love the set up...really enjoyed your pictures...would love to see more...

Great work. It's good to see the behind the scene of battle. I saw these figures this past week for the first time. They are impressive up close.

Nicely done. great use of various diorama material. I like the War of 1812 despite not collecting it.

The column moves on slowly by wanting to get a look at what is happening at the forge.

"Move it along PVT. Allen, nothing to see here ..... keep it going."

Chippewa6.jpg

But of course PVT Allen never listens and is straining his neck to see what is up!!

The Pioneer is on the lookout for a good tree to cut down, while the drummer is upping his tempo to get the troops moving.

A lovely job with the dio, Larry. The buildings and accessories really augment the visual effect of the JJD figures...super job!

Slightly different camera angles .. just to see how they come out

Nicely done Larry, I have thoroughly enjoyed the whole series of photos of you War of 1812 collection . . . a great way to start my morning while enjoying a good cup of coffee and listening to the thunder storm outside. As much as I enjoyed the display of your soldiers, I reall appreciated your use of the JG Miniature buildings and the photos you took of them. So often we collectors only see the stock pictures of the great offerings by JGM and not actual photos of them in use with our favorite TS. These buildings have really worked out very nicely with your diorama and adds not only a visually interesting deminsion, but also adds to the viability of the story line and helps to place the viewer actually in the yard of the blacksmith. Great job and thanks for sharing . . . .
:smile2: Mike

Very nice, and extremely original{bravo}}! Along the lines of what Mike was saying- thanks for the pictures of those JGM buildings-I have been contemplating buying some.

Hey Napoleon1er;
JG makes some very nice dio material, but the buildings (IMO) are superb. A bit expensive, but the (value to appeal) ratio is heavy on the JG side. I have additional JG buildings I will be showing in the next few posts to make it even more difficult for you to to resist. However .... the Britains, and the Traverse Dio structures are strong contenders.

One quick question- could you show a picture of the back of a facade? I always like to know if the facade is thick/thin, heavy/light. Thanks so much,
Sandor

Sure thing Napoleon1er;

Let me know if I can provide anything else.

Thank you soo much! I had heard that JG facdes were a bit flimsy, but I guess that rumor was wrong! Again, that is a great dio... It really makes a few narching figures and a command group go a long way!

UR Welcome,
Flimsy .... ummmm :rolleyes:.... no, not that I have found.

The only item on the JG pieces that are "delicate" are the bushes or flowers that are attached to the building itself. If you rough handle them they tend to shred or fall off the structure. BUT a little floral glue (or some water based glue) solves that problem right away. I have a few buildings that have "floral" additions I will post soon.

Have fun!

(Hi All, I'm new to the forum, but a JJD collector for some time)
Well done, this looks great, really like the wood pile too, I need one of those....
Also the story idea to the photos is excellent, please may I borrow that idea for my future photo posts?! ;)
Keen to see your next set up, and you've inspired me to have ago with one myself...
Need to get my FIW's out of their boxes.

Hey Ma.j DH,
By all means, use whatever you would like. That is (one of) the beauties of this forum, so many GREAT ideas from all the talent and creativity of the members. :rolleyes:
The wood pile was simple. Go to your back yard and gather sticks and cut and glue them until you are satisfied with the look and height. [DONE] The ground work was all the little pieces of (debris) left over. Relaxes the mind, sitting cutting sticks for hours, although the wife thinks I’m insane. :p
Next will be the BRITISH waiting for the arrival of the Scott’s Brigade.
Good luck and looking forward to see what you created ….. HAVE FUN!

Larry
