Hi all, just got an update about a upcoming 3 day concert in October at Indio California, just check out the names of the groups who are attending...The Who, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Neil Young and Roger Waters!!!!!! now that is a ALL STAR LINE UP!!, not sure if I'll attend but man it would be sweet if I could, as much as I like all the bands there I would love to see Roger Waters in concert...Sammy

Don't want to get into politics, but I will pass on that one big time....

That being said, yes, legendary line-up, no doubt about it!

With that collection of fossil rock, they'd better have several ambulances running, ready to go.

I watched the recent rock and roll HOF induction cerimonies; Deep Purple, NWA, Chicago, Steve Miller and Cheap Trick.

All great acts in their day; back in the 1960's and 1970's..........................

Sounds like a great lineup but some of these guys like McCartney and Daltry can't hit the high notes anymore; their voices aren't as strong as they used to be.

George, those were my thoughts exactly. I saw many of them when they were great, 45 years ago. It'll be interesting to see whether most of the wheelchairs are on stage on in the audience.:rolleyes2: -- Al

I understand money is money and who knows what the financial situation is for any of these older rockers; that said, there is a time when you have to give it up, it was painful watching Steve Miller as well as the Chicago, Cheap Trick and Deep Purple frontmen straining to hit high notes and the other band members flailing away trying to play their instruments.

It's a like a pro athlete; you can't go on forever..........................

I have a video of McCartney's performance at CitiField a few years ago and at times it was painful to watch it. His voice just doesn't have the timbre it used to have.

I think these performers enjoy performing. I believe that's why they continue to do it, even though they no longer have their chops.

The Stones are in top shape. No doubt about it. My nurse helped me out of my chair a couple of times and I could clearly see that. I did not even have to turn up my hearing aid!

Sadly it is quite true that a time comes when you should just retire and such is the case with some of these greats, but we should bear in mind that nobody and I mean nobody performing these days is even a patch on these guys.... they set the standards that just wouldn't surpassed.
Wayne.

Couple of Comments:

1. Anyone seen Billy Joel lately? Saw him December in the Garden - he was just fine and knocked it out of the park. He is a great musician and has continually optimized his changing sound - no loss there.

2. I just saw the Who last Friday night in Kansas City, MO~! Daltrey may not hit every crazy high note, but at 72, he looked great and absolutely nailed the infamous scream note in Baba (Teenage Wasteland) and Townsend can still play the guitar and music better than most of the "new" pop Tarts (Yes I mean the spelling that way!) Townsend at 70 is still a guitar god.

SO IMO - I will take these era bands including the Rock Hall of Fame over the trash on the radio today anytime, anyplace.

Will be seeing Black Sabbath and AC/DC with Axl before the year is out and my wife and I will probably do Billy again in the Garden. As I said, money well spent.
