Well guys, irony of all ironies, I discovered this moring. when I went to respond to folks,I found that I was back in limbo on my office desk top. I just don't get this. But anyway, I'm on the landlords's computer hopefully giving thanks for the kind remarks. Of course, I'm still struggling with the wherewithall of the forum procedures, and hope this all comes out.
Very nice too! :salute::
Jeff
Jeff, thank you much
Very impressive display, hope to be able to do similar one day. Thank you for inspiring.
Do you keep your "battlebox" display in the open .. how do you keep the dust off ?
OD
OD - Thanks for the compliment and yes the battlebox is open to the elements...I'm always on dust patrol. Tim Tyler from Troops of Time, my main K&C man suggested using blush brushes to do the job. You should have seen the look on the checkout guys face when I bought them. But Tim's right - it does the job. Still, dust is a problem. What I have are all temporary and will rebuild upon retiring to Delaware in about 11/4 years. I'm thinking of wood and lucite covers to keep out the dust, very light so their easily movable. Maybe the look of the Bond film - I think "The Living Daylights"? And we'll go from there
you have a brilliant set up there, wish I had as many troops like that, but I'm working on it
By the way, I think you need to remove the grey foam packaging under the Polish Lancer's sword scabbards... they are un-regimentally dressed, but we can excuse that in the 'heat of battle '
Well Done !!!
John
Thanks a lot John. And little do you know that keeping the individual packing was actually by design. I'll be retiring and leaving LI in another year plus and everything has to be broken down and packed. So, I lerft a lot of the individual packing in place. Basically, what I have is all temporary. It suits my needs, but will all be redone larger and with more realistic ground work. If you look closely to the pictures, you'll notice that the sidewall background pics are just tacked with tape in strategic spots - so some is pulling away from the walls, and the ground mats are not glued but weighted down by the soldiers and dio pieces.
Joe:
Really nice job with your diorama! You did an excellent job putting your units together...love the drama you created!
We love to ogle other people's work...so definitely keep it coming!
SP - what can I say - you say excellent and I look at my work and think how mundane it looks to me compared to all you guys work. WOW!!!!!!!!!! Here's a truth - I think the pictures outdo the reality. When I look at the actual dios, there's all kinds of other things in my vision that obscures the nature of it. But the pics get right down into the field of battle and make the mundane come to life. I don't know if any of you have experienced that dual sense. It's why, from the beginning, I wanted to create walls around the dios with background all around to completely immerse the soldiers and me into the field.
Wow! Great diorama and nice collection.
I see you figured out the how to on picture posting.
Keep the photos coming! Its great to see another Napoleonic collector posting diorama pics!
P.S. Whats Pats models???
Fish - again thanks, but look what you do. I think if I had come back into the hobby a lot earlier, I would have explored your method of painting plastics/unpainted metals and built the armies that way. I was a model builder in my youth. But lazy butt that I am at this stage, I buy, buy ,buy. What I hope to do, is explore the creativity in the groundwork/scenery area in the future. And Pats models are Patriot Models. I have some.
Very impressive! Like the 360 effect, many different aspects to the dio.
Terp. many thanks. And yes, the moment I decided to go full tilt boogey dios, I wanted that 360 effect. As noted above, I want the immersion of the soldiers and me into the field. Now we all know that doing a full battlefield of 1/30, 1/32 is very difficult without football fields of space to work with. But, with 360, 1- you have deep background going to infinity of which, I want to choose better pics for future. and 2- the photo experiment I want to work towards is getting the soldiers I have into the background to extend the length and width of the dio and create the illusion of massive field. It will take me a while to work the parameters out, but that's where I'm going.
