At the moment I am or am about to start fighting the Jerries in two Wars and several locations! I will at the London show start my K&C WW1 collection (I only have a Christmas set as of now) with a British Tank and I will begin picking off the Australian figs that will swap nationality when the black boots arrive in the home counties in the form of paint and brush.

WW2 sees me increasing my ever growing RAF squadron, reinforcing my troops in both Arnhem and Normandy and I have yet to buy my first Commando (I know, so behind right!) There are still several additions to the Home front also and to that end I will also pick up Bomb Disposal truck and wounded Jerry pilot being escorted (I have a nice scene in mind for him) at the London show.

I can't even begin to think of the English Civil War.............................................................just yet:wink2:

Any of you guys trying to collect several ranges at once and making difficult decisions about who gets reinforced next??

I think this is an interesting post. Are TS companies trying to get more share of their clients wallet or trying to attract new customers ie( new to hobby or competitors) when they launch these new lines

From a collector point of view, the new line has to be pretty enticing due to existing financial and space constraints

I am lucky this time around the new K&C lines are not my cup of tea but I guessing there a few collectors that are going to have to make some hard allocation decisions..

Quite the diverse list Rob. I shudder at the space and cost requirements. I see frenzied madness in your future {eek3}^&grin

I've long ago cut back in terms of ranges, eras and manufacturers. The best way I can justify it is I am focusing on armour from a few WWII ranges, select groupings from the British Empire, and select groupings of NAPs. That's more than enough for space and cost but still keeping it varied and interesting.

There's always been madness Terry! :wink2:

But I know what you mean. I no longer buy 8th army , US inf or Germans these days. I now focus on those listed and try and work my way methodically through those items I want. With world war 1 bursting out all over I'm trying to indulge my passion for that whilst trying to keep up with WW2......its not easy but all part of the fun!

Oops!! :redface2: Something caught my eye. I'm modifying my collecting strategy :rolleyes2: That didn't last long

I am a WW2 guy and will remain so for the rest of my days, but recently I ventured -although limited- into ww1 because of the Belgian carabiniers of 1914 that came on the market.
I only made one WW1 dio so far ( commissioned) against hundreds of WW2 dioramas.

Rob, for me it's always been a bit of a juggle of what ranges and manufacturers to pursue. There is so much to choose from now-a-days that I'm finding it increasingly difficult to keep to one or two ranges and are constantly reassessing my collection focus.

As always, the final decision ultimately comes down to available funds........and of course the Mrs's.{sm4}

Hey Rob

I only collect WW2 and the 3 areas my interests lie in are the Ardennes Offensive (BBG and BBA), North Africa (AK and EA), France 1944 (WS and DD Brit's and Americans), OMG, FJ's, some Eastern Front Jerries (no Ruskies though and I may not collect anymore Jerries specifically aimed at this range) and early war grey Jerries. I have managed over the years to keep up with the collecting in these ranges (although some vehicles and figures I do pass on) but I do find it hard sometimes to keep up with the amount of items that is being released.

I have been tempted to dabble into some WW1 items, Ancient Egypt as well as aircraft (there are other ranges as well) but unfortunately it's just not possible to stretch the funds that far.

That said, I may be able to go into other ranges in the future but I still think my core collecting will lie in the ones that I have described. Of course if a missus comes into the equation then that idea and my current collecting may come under severe pressure! {sm4}

As someone who has been collecting for over 50 years I can say that this is by far the best time for our hobby. Quality and variety are unsurpassed!
While I will always have a soft spot in my heart for glossies; especially Trophy, Imperial, ATS, LL, Tedtoy, Somerset and WB the matt finish figures bring
toy soldiers to the realm of "military miniatures" and historical accuracy. The sculpting alone deserves the label of "art" rather than just a "toy soldier hobby."
I want to collect almost all the new ranges but will have to be more selective.
Hats off to K&C, JJD, FL, TGM, Figarti, TCS, WB and others.

Thanks for your replies guys, good to get your views. I remember right from the off collecting K&C all those years back I would go to a show , spend forever pacing up and down trying to decide what to buy next (probably looking more like I was waiting to nick something rather than buy it!^&grin)and after finally choosing still wish I'd got something more as well. :smile2:At .east after all these years I have a large collection of Brit,German,US WW2 which now also allows me to move into WW1. Having been hooked by WW1 since a school trip way back in the day I just knew when this centenary came along I was going to move into that conflict too.

I think the main thing is that years back I tried to be a completest with my collecting, as soon as I realised that was not possible anymore it became even more fun as now every item I buy is very much wanted and enjoyed.

And Toddy, you are right about the missus in that she often has a different view, often I'll say to her 'Shall I get x,y or z' to which she'll reply, 'None of them, take me out for the night instead'^&grin:wink2:
