In honor of Independence Day, I present a figure depicting my ancestor Richard Hines, who fought with the 2nd Rhode Island Regiment. After surviving the war he lived well into his 90s, finally perishing after falling into a bonfire at a festival. One family story claims he had been chasing after a woman at the time.

Great story - but tell me - IF he had caught her - would he have remembered what he was chasing after her for???:D jb{sm2}

Got a quick question, are you also related to the Carnahan's of Western Pennsylvania? just curious as that is the branch of the Carnahan family that is my ancestors. They built the Carnahan blockhouse and one of them was killed defending the blockhouse.

Chris

No, Carnahan is actually just a screen name. But Richard Hines did settle in that part of PA and is buried outside of Ellwood City.
