One question for JJD (1 Viewer)

It is my understanding that John feels WW2 is adequately covered by the many other manufacturers (almost everyone, in fact) that already make product for WW2. He prefers the more unusual, less covered subjects, the road less traveled, if you will. John has touched on the SCW with tanks and aircraft, and as a result he did do a WW2 Bf-109, so who knows what the future may bring? -- Al

I'm sure John could do tanks very well. After all, his SCW tanks and vehicles are some of the best ever made -- and at an affordable price for most collectors. However, he's already spread to thin, in my humble opinion, so I just hope he keeps focusing on what he's doing.
The amount of product that John produces, being only one man, is staggering. I don't know how he keeps it up. He must be working 24/7 to keep all his lines going. It is remarkable. -- Al

Agree that WWII is covered sufficiently by K&C, FL, WB, TCS,TG, Figarti and others.
I think JJD will introduce several new ranges in 2017 but WWII will not be among them.
Personally I hope he does the AWI and more SYW ranges.

To be honest it only FL and K&C making WW2 in any numbers compared to five years ago there was more choice

....I for one would snap up anything AWI if done by JJD.....all the work done so far that relates to the 18th c. is sublime.....and it is this century that I most associate with JJD (still not enough Jacobite material for my liking :wink2: )....having said that, his range of 'Great War' material is very well done.....all of it unique.........personally I think it helps for JJD to leave WW2 alone, as he has clearly become the best in what he has done so far.....(biased, I know!)....and I assume we would all appreciate a lot more figures from our preferred collection era's....
...the poses and the colours used on the existing ranges are what make JJD stand out from the crowd.....just look at the new (truly fabulous) Wars of the Roses figures....they are stunning....I'm trying so hard to not buy them.......but with each new release I find myself wavering....
I feel the same. John's stuff is the best. His WW1 aircraft are unequaled, and he continues to improve on them, raising the bar even further. His Jacobite series highlanders are the best figures on the market, as I have expressed many times, simply unbeatable in terms of action and color. I just love his work. -- Al

John did produce one WW2 Tank - The now sold out Russian BT5. It's listed on his site under the WW2 heading
His Spanish Civil War Panzer I variants and the T26 would only need different markings to put them into the WW2 category.
I asked him once if he would consider doing this, (I have a strong interest in the Blitzkrieg era) but he didn't seem too keen
unfortunately.
My guess is he will at some point delve more deeply into WW2 but obviously it will be from his own unique angle.
(The Norwegian/Narvik campaign would certainly be unique......) ^&grin

He's never disappointed in the past, and I will be happily surprised by whatever route he decides to take.

The Norwegian campaign would be very interesting, early war Tanks, mountain troops and Biplanes all we know John excels at. I have had this discussion with him in the past and he didn't say an absolute no but he is right and world war II has been cover in the main by many manufactures over many years.
Norway would offer a unique take on the era that John would again excel at but John knows his market well and he will keep use interested as always because he has a rare talent.
If he only dipped his toe into the AWI he could as has been said before produce an amazing Washington crossing the Delaware as in the Leutze painting. Again we know boats hold no fear for John.
Anyway thats enough of my ramblings

Have always felt that JJD is the best bet to plug a gap with a historical period the others wouldn't risk....... jacobites, SCW, Wars of the Roses etc ...... would much rather see him going for those significant conflicts which others haven't touched ...... Boer War, Indian Mutiny , conquistadores . there's not much out there on any of these other than Morgan miniatures on conquistadores. Or what about SYW in India....... Clive of India ........war elephants in Bengal ! Seems a natural progression for the 18th century master !
Agree with prior comments the Jacobites are one of the best things out there in the industry in terms of dynamic animation and finish. Love the series. Ps when are we going to see the Bonnie Prince as part of the series ?

I pestered John for a Gallipoli range for a good year or two as no one else was doing one and also citing that the Australian collectors market was strong. Hey presto my wish came true and it's a brilliant range in keeping with everything else John produces and I love those figures.
Unfortunately my interest has now moved away to a completely different period of history, Romans, and therefore I haven't bought anything of Johns for a while. That saddens me somewhat as John's figures, vehicles and aircraft are the best around. He is a master of his art, he is approachable, courteous, takes time listening to his customers and his responses are always detailed and interesting. I echo what others have said regards how amazingly vast his production is for one individual. A true giant of our hobby.

I would love to see JJD do Canadians at Vimy Ridge for 2017.
Also, although the War of 1812 has been dormant for awhile would like to see USA Dragoons and the British 19th Light Dragoon's of course.

Agreed to both of these. Canadians at Vimy would be fairly easy since the previously released Australians would just need to have their shoulder patches converted.
I'm also hoping John revisits the War of 1812 series. I'm still hoping to see a Royal Artillery officer and sergeant to command the guns and gunners that John released a few years ago.
