I live in Queensland, it's similar to Texas in many ways with flat land West of the Mountains, hot and dry climate with dust, cattle, cotton, gas, oil, coal etc. Earlier this week there was a shootout with Police in Central Queensland, only a few hours drive from me on the coast, Six people dead. A very rare occurrence in Australia, I wonder if it even made the news overseas. Still plenty of rumors about what caused it, will take a while for the truth to come out, if it ever does.
