Dear Sir,

In a great deal of your wonderful WWII products I have noticed something decidely missing. Women! Yes there have been a few in the Russian series for which I applaud you. I have come into several collections of Encyclopedic volumes showing the female participation to be much higher than I was aware of. Yes I , and I am sure you are aware of all the "Rosie Riveters", but I am thinking more of the Service Women. The Russian female Tank drivers Women transport Pilots and Air Raid Wardens. Time Life Books has pictures of German women operating Searchlights and other Observation eguipment!

I am a fan of your work and hope that you will at least consider my request seriously, and perhaps as a small tribute those women made for their countries and loved ones.

Thank you Michjael Steinrok AKA The Vamp

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, it looks like we're heading for 'Affirmative Action' in Toy Soldiers  :D

Where is Sgt Mjr. Shut Up when you need him. Scared Oz??????? You are teasing of course. To quote Victor McLaughlin "Where would any of us be without a mother?";)

It is not Harry's mother in law is it?

Harry says this is a pretty good likeness;)

I really would like to see some real women figures in WWII

And.. before anyone else does. Ilsa the SS Shewolf is not what I am talking about.

Great idea Vamp!
I would like to see A beautiful lady kissing an American soldier.

Trust me, the M-i-L's sister is even scarier....!!! :D:D:D

I completely agree wit you KV regarding more depictions of females in the TS universe and not just in WWII either. I recently obtained the JJD civilian sets from the Raid on St Francis range - and they blow me away. They are extremely versatile and lend themselves to so many different dio ideas - How does Dutch Boers on trek being attacked by Britain's Zulu Warriors grab anyone..??
We're not talking about anything inappropriate - well, I'm not. Just female figures that can be readily incorporated into interesting dio scenes.
The K&C AE dancing girls are going to feature in several future episodes of the Flashman Thread - once I find where Missus H has hidden her fingernail decorations - so's I can cover up their, hmmm, magnificent if somewhat improbable attributes.

Cheers
H

Sure, WWII is a rich source of material for serious female figures. You have WAVEs, WACs, WAAFs, female aircraft ferry pilots, and all of the women who replaced men in the workforce, in the US; WRENs and whatever else you Brits called them, plus women in the workforce; and Flakhelferinnen, as well as nurses, military and otherwise, and regular civilian figures (how 'bout Mom welcoming her boy back safe from the front?).

Then there are earlier periods of history to mine, WWI, the Boer War, as Harry pointed out; the US Civil War (Clara Barton? Mary Todd Lincoln?); Crimea (Florence Nightingale, anyone?); the War for Independence; the Seven Years War (even personality figures, from that one-Maria Theresia, Elisabeth I and Mme Pompadour). Let's not forget Good Queen Bess.

Yes, there's a lot of potential.

Prosit!

In "Downfall" there were some female HJs manning the 88mm or anti-tank guns in Berlin. I think the issue came up before and Andy said something along the lines of not enough interest to produce WAVEs/WACs etc.

To be honest, it would be an extremely rare female figure that I would spend my cash on. I don't like female reporters in the locker room, I don't like females in combat and I didn't want one as my president.:D:p
Ray

The only female figure I would be interested in is something like that French Resistance babe from The Longest Day distracting German soldiers.

Well NMRocks, considering almost 400,000 women served in the US military alone in WWII (I don't know how many did from other countries) I think they definitely have a place in history and the nurses in particular would be an awesome addition to my personal collection.
Here's a good article on US women in WWII.
Cheers,

Now Shannon, don't go making me into something I'm not, some of my favorite people in the whole world are women! I was very specific on which ROLES I didn't like women in and a political jab as well. This was not ment to be a denigration of women in any way. If anything it is my holding women in a higher regard and not wanting them in danger or lowering there integrity that spurred my comment.

Sort of agree on female reporters in men's locker rooms-do male reporters get to go into the women's locker rooms?

Also have to agree about combat-even though, yes, you can point to specific examples of women who are more fit physically than most men. Go to Dennis Prager's website for some good discussion on cultures that blur roles and send women to fight.

As to a woman for President--I have to disagree. I can accept a woman as President, just not THAT woman.

Hillary delenda est.

And as far as figures go, I'd have no problem buying female figures, to add to dioramas and scenes. History is history, even if some try to change it in the retelling.

Prost!

Corgi makes a 1:32nd woman in a man's sailor uniform. It was part of their World War II Recruitment Poster Series. I've got one.

Have the Conte, SS SheWolf that I call " Jill " because she looks just like my neighbor.... really

No....nothing going on, her gate swings the other way

I'll bet the Figarti German Officer with Dog would go good with the SS SheWolf
