I've been putting a lot of thought into what to buy at the London Show next week. I've taken it easy for a while, my last purchases being the DAK panzer II and the DAK motorcycle sidecar.
So now my credit card has recovered a bit I'm looking to buy a couple of new things.

Does anyone out there have either of the German T34 or Normandy Kubelwagen? They look great in the pictures so i was wondering what people thought of them.

Hey mate,i'm afraid i don't have either of these. However i have been studying the Normandy Kubelwagen and i think i will get this at the show as well.I love the camo on it and the figures look cool too.I don't yet have a Kubel in my collection and i am debating between this version and the FOB version. However the Normandy one will go with more of my figures.

As for the T34 this has really grown on me.When it first came out i didn't think i'd get it,its what you might call a 'slow burner'!.

My biggest question for the show is Hummel or M12?

Rob

I'd forgotten the M12. I wonder if that will be out in time for the show? It does look good.

The German T34 has also grown on me in the pictures. I just wondered if anyone actually had one and what they thought.

Tough choice Rob the hummel or the m12. I think go for the hummel but i'm sure you'll get both eventually! (like me) :)

Hummel mate,
By the sounds of it, the M12 will not be available at the show - about a week or so off unfortunately.
Just in case it is though, I would suggest the Hummel and the M12. Saves having to try and make a decision. :)

I just looked at the M12 on K&C UK and it said out of stock so maybe not?.Well at least that makes the Hummel question easier!.As soon as you see that T34 next saturday you'll know if its for you.Thats what i love about the London shows, three times a year you get to see the stuff up close.I enjoy perousing the internet for K&C but theres nothing like seeing it right there in front of you. :)

Rob

I have them both. They are great looking vehicles and would suggest picking them up. You can't go wrong.

Hi James-

The German T-34 is certainly one of the best tank produced in the recent years by K&C. The camo is a total success and, as usual, the figures are giving to the set all it's distinctive look.

The only thing (and you will see it): the tank seems to be out of scale. It looks like to be too small for a T-34.

If you go for that set, you would certainly pick up the WS099 set (German Tank Crew) to go with it.

As far as the Normandy Kubelwagen is concerned, I prefer the German Kubelwagen Car set (FoB020) but it is only my personal taste, not a negative critic of the WS102 set.

Pierre.

Hey Pierre, would you say its easy to notice that its smaller than the other T34?.

Rob-

When I saw the German T-34 at my local dealer store, it looks obvious, for me, that the WS098 is smaller than the RA13 set.

But as that tank (RA13) was not in store, it was impossible to compare the two, side by side. But I had the immediate and strong impression that it is smaller.

Pierre.

Thanks Pierre, thats interesting to know. Will have to compare them at the show:)

And let me know. As I said, it is a strong impression.

Have a great show with James and the Neville family. Take photos for us.

The Hummel is a beautiful piece Rob. I'm even thinking of buying a second one.

Thanks for the advice guys. Much appreciated.
I do have the Russian T34 so it would be interesting to see them side by side.
The original T34 is quite a large tank.

I have them both and they're exactly the same length. The Berlin T 34 is a little taller, however. I think this may be due to the fact they appear to be different verision of the T 34. They each have slightly different features (and I don't mean the baskets). In addition, the Berlin T 34 barrel is much longer than the Normandy one, which leads me to believe (even if I'm no tank expert) that they are different versions of the T 34.

It would be nice to hear about that particular point from a tank expert like Gary or Dave.

I maybe waaaaaaaaaaaay wrong here but could one be a T34/76mm and one a T34/85mm.Please feel free to throw rocks at me if i'm out of line.

Will do Pierre,i'm sure between me Tony and James one of us can post some pics.I think there will be live coverage of the show on K&C UK.At least i'm sure i read that somewhere?.

Rob

Rob,

You appear to be right. The Berlin version is a T 34/85, whereas the early T 34s were 76mm, of which the recent K & C issue is an example. See T 34 for some further information and photos.

This T 34/76 photo appears more akin to the recent K & C issue.

No one more surprised than me Brad!.Thanks for the link.It does look more like the new version doesn't it.

Rob

Hi Guys,

The set that is currently up for sale is a T34-76D model with the German Hatch added very nice looking model and if I can find a photo of the Berlin one I will be able to tell you which model of the T34 -85 it is. But that would be the biggest difference. Hope this helps.

All the best

Dave
