Opinions on new Naval Series (2 Viewers)

I have the beginnings of a small SOHK scene, so a couple of these will fit right in. I'm looking at the petty officer and the guy with the seabag as great fits. The shore patrol might also fit in. The guys with the guns, though, won't fit in on that street!

Yes, you will need some club wielding thugs for that scene. :)

They just don't grab me

I'm a retired US Navy officer, and I may pick up one just to have a Navy figure in my collection, but they just haven't impressed me very much. The Shore Patrol figures (with their oversized batons) could represent WWII figures -- although Blues were seldom worn in the Pacific so these woudl have to be stateside figures. The Officer in Dress Whites could represent a watchstander on December 7, 1941, but officers pretty much spent the war in Khakis (American khaki -- tan) after that. The other figures are pretty much 1910s-30s in warm climates.

Hi, thanks for the input! To be honest, i have heard a lot of criticisims about the inaccuracy of uniforms from many of the K&C ranges! If K&C wanted to make a naval set so bad, why didnt they make circa 41-42 naval men in uniform??

Hi Guys,

Surprise, surprise, someone does not like something we’ve produced! And not only that he’s heard ‘a lot of criticisms about the inaccuracy of the uniforms from many of the K&C ranges!’

Gosh, I’m shocked ‘n’ stunned… How have we managed to stay in business for 25 years? We should’ve been bankrupt years ago!!!

Not only had we the temerity to make a U.S. Navy series (we wanted to so bad) but we didn’t even make the right period to suit our critic (1941/42).

Woe is me… What is a toy soldier maker to do? For the record… I’m fascinated by the history of China generally… In particular the tumultuous years between the World Wars. I’ve always loved “The Sand Pebbles”… it’s one of my favourite movies… I wanted to bring together our already existing Chinese figures and draw them to the attention of a wider audience… What better way to do than ‘Storm Over the Yangtse’… I also love the U.S. Navy uniforms of those sailors at the time on the Yangtse River Patrol… just like the movie.

If you like what we do… a big thank you. If you don’t like what we do well… I’ll just have to live with that!

Such is life… best wishes to one and all and… happy collecting!

Whatever that may be.

Any one who loves the Sand Pebbles has my appreciation and support. As with anything, one man's...........;) Frankly I think we should appreciate more what is done well and worry less about what is done.

I will be honest - I never had too much of a thought of the Old Streets of Hong Kong - but, with these new Naval Figures - ANDY HAS DONE IT AGAIN...I AM HOOKED !

This is why people make money with Marketing Strategies ! ;) With the new US NAVY guys (which I love and I am a fan of Sand Pebbles the Movie as well) - I now find myself looking and planning to buy figures that are OSHK - ugh !

Sometimes I just can't help myself when it comes to these little guys. But, the figures are cool and I too have an interest in the "Early WWII China Period" & the EMPIRE AGE ! (Pre-WWI).

Great cross marketing - Andy - you are the Leader of the Toy Soldier World.
