What a game. Jeez, we beat ourselves in the first half and the holding call on the 2 pt conversion in the 2nd was the killer. What a game though, not happy in Steel Town tonight. Yes I live in Baltimore but am die hard Black and Gold. As a youngster, I vividly remember 1979, what a great year, Pirates, Steelers and it was fun even as a kid watching all of my Baltimoron, sorry Baltimorean friends cry away!!!!!!!!!!

Oh well, til next year, until then, i guess its could be a Patriot show, imagine if they go undefeated, that will be worth watching.

Me and a buddy watched the game- he is a diehard Black and Gold fan too. I told him with that last three minutes and change left that they could not afford to go soft and conservative and well, they did. It was unfortunate, as the Steelers should have won that game- you just cannot spot your opponents 14 points in the playoffs and hope to win. They had the momentum and why they decided to slow up and try to run out the clock and let the D win it is beyond me. The D was hit and miss all night. For whatever reason, teams this year have just started going to this 4th quarter conservative approach and it just doesn't work- you saw the Ravens and the Eagles do it against the Pats and I ahve seen it in several other games this year as well. Football is a game of aggression- you don't just try and hold on for the win you gotta go for it.

Must catch a LOT of heat rounds in the middle of Raven country rooting for those Steelers. :D

Chris,
your post is spot on about the game, I couldn't agree more. No matter what calls hurt, giving them 14 pts and an interception right before half are the true killers. And I almost died at the play calling for that last offensive drive. We really miss Coach W (now at Arizona), he was the offensive genius behind Big Ben. I do like Tomlin and give him a ton of credit in his first year, and to his defense, if he would have had his 2 starting Tackles and Willie Parker, that last drive could have been different. BUt wouldve couldve shouldve has sent many home before and was true last night!

Believe it or not, down here in Ravens country, we are more than a few! There is a good bit of Steeler fans around here and I think that is what p'os the Baltimore fans so much. To me, the Ravens are and always will be the former Browns. They have put together some exciting seasons, but my household will never sport any purple trimmings. My 3 year old has a nice Black and Gold wardrobe building already.

What really killed the Steelers was going going for two points AFTER the BS holding call negated the terrific catch by Ward to give them the two points. Why try it from 12 yards out? Kick the PAT and go from there; had they not gone for two there, they would have been able to kick the PAT after the go ahead touchdown and be up 3 instead of 1.

Fourth and two and they get beat on a QB draw, too bad. Iv'e heard all of these great things about the Jags QB, he was 9-21, 104 yds and two INT'S. They scored 14 points on an INT and a 99 yard kick off return which led to a one yard TD run, they did not impress me at all, the Steelers are the better team.

See you next week Jags, unless the Titans pull a miracle, then the Jags play Gomer and the Dolts and we get the Titans.............

Yeah, those were some God awful calls- like in the first quarter when Rothie threw his first pick- I for the life of my didn't understand how an OFFENSIVE player could get called for a CHOP BLOCK when he is trying to TACKLE the defensive player and ROLLS into the other player!!!:confused: Like George said - the 2 pt penalty was awful too- Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!!

The coaches both showed inexperience with their calls- I like Timlin as well- he has always seemed aggresive this year that's why I was stunned when they bottled up there at the end of the game. On the flip side, Del Rio squabbled those last 38 seconds before the 2 minute warning at the end of the game- he almost gave the Steelers the game back with the disorganization.

Yeah, this was the first time I saw Jacksonville play and I don't think anywhere across the board they matchup much less have an edge over the Pats- I take NE by 27, maybe 31. The Steelers beat themselves. Jacksonville's Defense is huge but those guys are just not in shape at all- you could see that Pittsburgh was able to come back there towards the end at Jax just wasn't physically up to it-

Giants looked fantastic today- today's games in Sunny Tampa and rainy but warm San Diegoe again had me asking "Why do I live in Central Pa??" :D

Love the NFL and Love the Playoffs- some more great matchups coming our way!!!

Chris-
I think you jinxed the folks in California - 9+ feet of snow in some places. We have 70 degrees in PA. Buy more Hummers.

I couldnt agree more with all the analysis in these posts. As much as it pains me, we shot ourselves heavily in the foot. But that was the blueprint for every loss we had (except the Pats, we got flat beat there!). Oh well, I will be watching the Pats with expectation.

I think Tomlin was as angry as me with the offensive play calling on the last drive. I hate to say it, but all head coaches have to take the responsibility anyhow, so why not make the calls. Tomlin let those calls be made even if he didn't do it. I really disagree when the head coach doesn't step in on the critical calls, you have a plan that the O Coordinators propose and follow, but in certain situations, the man in charge needs to take control. Oh how I would love to have Ken W back this year (head coach of Cardinals, he was a great coordinator for Pitt)

ANd I am sure he would like to have his extra point fiascos back!!!

Agree on the chop block, not sure what they were looking at on that one.

Enuff crying over spilt milk. I am done spouting on!

I have amazing powers over Mother Nature!! :D Just wish I could hold the same sway over mother checkbook and get her to open up for toy troops!! :D

Come to think of it, I recall, I think it was New Years Day 2005, it reached in the 60's- I went on a bike ride with my parents and wife. The last couple years have had some very warm January days right around New Years- uh oh, better be careful before this gets into the global warming issue.
