I think that would be nice to have a different set in 2008, and I think that this should interesting special for those who like Bulge. The Otto Skorzeny Special Commandos Brandenburg (he is known as the commando leader who rescued Italian dictator Benito Mussolini from imprisonment at the Hotel Gran Sasso. Operation Oak September 1943)

They could be use in different types of operations and fronts

Rod.

If Andy can ever find a factory to produce the affordable Fiesler Storch, he could do a second version of the plane with Skorzeny's commandos rescuing Mussolini.

A little off topic here but I have found that my least favorite figures in the Bulge set is the "fake Americans"- i just feel they are too confusing- especially when looking at all the sets together.

:( Hello! My Father fought in the Bulge in the Ardennes Forest and those Guys (Americans); fought Hard and with Ut -Most Courage; in a Cold and Extreme Hazardous Weather, and gave their Lives for us! So, Please don't knock Andy's , Battle-of -Bulge Sets! Thankyou, JohnGambale!

He's not knocking the Americans, he's saying he does not like the FAKE Americans (ie, Germans dressed as Americans) depicted in some of the sets.

Warrior (George) was correct in his first statement. However, we could have done without the second statement in his post and some of the implications in the subsequent posts. I've edited George's and deleted the rest.

I see what you mean Chris.I'm not so keen on the American Stug for some reason, but on the other hand i do like the 'Halt'! set a lot.Its straight out of the Battle of the Bulge film.I think the Bulge range in general just gets better and better, the winter releases from this range are a real highlight of the collecting year for me.

For the life of me, I can't see how having a laugh at a completely confused and off-the-wall response to CC's original post can possibly be construed as bordering on being "personal attacks".
I would question the wisdom of singling out certain contributers for special protection if other members take the opportunity to pull their leg a bit over a post that is clearly risible. And the implied threat in the Some of these posts are close to personal attacks on a fellow member is proof that this is indeed not a free forum.
I notice that the post that caused the original hilarity hasn't been pulled, which appears to me to expose the writer to even more ridicule. And who mentioned anything about endless lists in the posts that were pulled/edited? No-one. In fact some of the items in the endless lists are quite good suggestions IMO, if you're a WWII Desert War enthusiast that is.

If you don't like the job I'm doing, you're welcome to take over. Shall I tell Shannon you'll start immediately?

Wow, who got out the wrong side of bed this morning then??
No-one is saying they don't like the job you're doing, not to the best of my knowledge anyway. All I'm doing is expressing a personal opinion, which I understand I'm perfectly at liberty to do, as long as its kept within the boundaries of a "Family Forum". And I think we all know what they are without them having to be spelled out.
Unless someone is looking for something that WASN'T there, there was nothing in my post, or the other posts that were pulled, that could be construed as personal attacks on a fellow member other than a bit of leg-pulling along with sheer disbelief that CC's original post could possibly be misunderstood in such a manner. If I or any other member were to submit a post such as that response - we'd be laughed out of court PDQ - so why is the writer of that response afforded what appears to be special privileges and protection on this forum - Are you trying to tell me we can't have a good laugh at what is by anyone's standards a ridiculous response...???
I quite deliberately did not contribute to the previous storm in a tea cup whereby King & Ciao provided endless entertainment to the point of provoking Andy Neilson himself to join in. Seemed to me that enough other members were involved. Funny, but I can't recall anyone being accused of making personal attacks during that particular kerfuffel.
Now Brad, if you wish to continue to make a mountain out of a molehill let's do it by PM.
A thought that has been crossing my mind ought to be considered though. What if the continual endless lists and occasional risible post constitute one enormous wind-up...??? Maybe CIAO is having one long laugh to himself at all the controversy he manages to "innocently" stir up.....:rolleyes:

PS. I think Shannon would have an attack of "The Vapours" for an entire week at the thought of ME taking over as Moderator. "Quick, where's the smelling salts".........

Best Regards

Whats the pay like?
Benefits? I need dental and some plastic surgery this year - any chance?:)

My first royal command would be to ban all pointless and stupid lists to do with The Desert War - yes please - let me let me let me let me let me let let let me let me take over! (you need to picture Donkey out of Shrek at the begining of the movie to appreciate this line) :D

Just to remind myself of what we really ought to be discussing, I've had another look at the BoB range that are still currently available from TF.
Although I like individual figures within each of the following sets I do not like them AS sets;

BBA014 Mine Laying Surprise
BBA013 Jest Make Sure He's Dead
BBA008 Wolf in Sheeps Clothing
BBA007 The Price of Deception - particulary repelled by this one

Just my opinion of course and no offense meant or implied.
Cheers

Oh, go on then Don-Kay.....:D:D

There are some good figures in those sets as you say H.

By accident I dropped to the ground the skorzeny soldier tied to the pole in price of deception. As a result the pole was able to come loose , without the pole its a much more versatile piece, :D

Like the two guys getting shot in mine laying surprise, and have the american stug. I'd like the Jez is he dead if the figures were seperated rather than together.
Skorzeny had assembled a whole brigade of 2000 soldiers for operation grief , to cause confusion , appears to be still in progress:D:D:D:D

It certainly does RH, it certainly does. Funny innit?? :D:D:D

I agree with Harry I don't like the price of deception set and I 'm not even German so I don't suppose any of our friends in the Fatherland will be impressed with it either. However from a historical point of view it's spot on and the new BOB Yanks are the best to date. I have just started to collect the whole BOB series but dropped The Desert series instead as to be honest it does not flick my switch anymore. Saying that the odd SAS piece is nice but theres now too much to collect so whats the point of trying to keep up?

Strange are the ways of collectors. I started off practically ignoring the AK/EA ranges to concentrate on BoB and now I've switched the other way around. I'll still buy BBA025 and BBA022 but I think that'll be that for the time being. Meanwhile there's the new AK and near-future EA releases to concentrate on. Some special SOHK sets and the AK 105mm gun set will be bought when I hit HK next week plus I'm hoping my order for the new Crimean Set 2 will have turned up in our South China office by then as well.
Now having said that, end of March looks like some more Crusaders and ESPECIALLY some Saracens will be installed in the Heid household.

And we've swerved completely off thread as usual. Wonder if some of the FJ's would do for a Mussolini rescue? Uniforms are probably wrong. Anyone know for sure?

Cheers

They wore desert trousers/helmets for the rescue and splinter smocks. Otto himself wore TROPICAL trousers and jacket as he was SS not an FJ.

Wouldn't it be cool if Andy repainted the whole of the new FJ's in desert colours?! Then I might start collecting Desert Again!

Wow RD, what a stunning thought...!!! That would be irresistable, in my knowledgable opinion :D:D:D (In-Joke).
