Whats the pay like?
Benefits? I need dental and some plastic surgery this year - any chance?:)

No pay, people complain about if you make a decision and then others if you don't, you have to monitor the Board all the time and you have to read everything. However, benefits are enormous: you keep the Board moving, sort things out, help people and get to be friends with two of the greatest people you ever want to know: Shannon and Pete :).

Harry,

Believe me, it takes a very patient personaility to monitor a bunch of loose canons like ourselves. Think about it . . . if say George (Warrior) was in Brad's place, a certain list maker would have been banned (or throttled) by now. We have all made some (to say the least) highly opinionated comments over the years, and if Brad and Pete and Shannon didn't occasionally step in, more than a few of our arguments might have escalated into "toy soldier wars". That being said, I don't always agree with the actions of our "Big Brothers" and "Big Sister" in censoring the forum. Alas, like government, it appears to be a necessary evil.

I think with nigh on 800 big kids, from all different walks of life and all over the world, sharing the same playground, I'm amazed we don't get more virtual bust ups than we do.

I believe it's down to:
a) the nature of the majority of toy soldier collectors (broad statement I know, but seems to be generally accurate), and
b) effective and moderate moderation.

Kudos.

No arguments there Louis, and I hope Brad realises my latest post was just a wee dig. I have tried to get this thread back on course, but people have to realise that while I, personally, agree with a lot of the list makers suggestions, risible posts no matter who makes them are wide open to some leg-pulling and I for one shall continue to do so. If that is interpreted as personal attacks then so be it. It speaks volumes about the conclusions that are reached by certain people IMO.

You are of course correct, Harry, that some people either don't get the joke or can't take a joke. Having mispent my youth watching re-runs of Monty Python's flying circus, Benny Hill, Fawlty Towers and just about every other piece of British humor, as well as the Paul Hogan Show, for a yank I get more of the commonwealth humor than average, but a lot of the Americans who don't have a grounding in English humor (and a lot of Brit friends), don't get it. Therein lies conflict (hopefully not) mortal . . .

And anyway, I think that Skorzeny was a thoroughly nasty piece of work.....;););)

Just for the record, I didn't take offense at Harry's comment. I am now thoroughly versed in Heid-ian humor:D

But no dental?
Sorry I need dental at least! :)

I think I'll tell Shannon I need some employee or quasi employee benefits. My dental at work is not too good so maybe I could be covered under her plan:D

Louis,
Your comments are 1000% dead on accurate; if I were in Brads place, a certain list maker would have been kicked to the curb A LONG, LONG time ago.

That is why Brad deserves credit in this case, the man has the patience of Job and the heart of a Saint................

When I posted this tread I was just think to have a new different subject to be exploited by K&C (I just finished a book call The Brandenburg Division, very nice by the way) that’s all.

Sorry for that.

Rod.

Rod,
Nothing to be sorry about. You know how threads can twist and turn in to something completely different.
I'm with you with regards to your suggestion. We'll have to see if it materialises.
Cheers

Hmmmm....which comment in particular didn't you take offense at Brad? Cos there's been plenty....:D:D:D;)

Peace appears to have broken out yet again.
Darn......:D:D:eek:

Rod,
You have nothing to apologise for. You made a good suggestion. Chris contributed a slightly different slant, but it was still a valid contribution. After Chris's post, the thread went to Hell in a Handbasket for a while through no fault of yours, but its back on track now. Just a pity our moderators can't "hit the wrong button" a bit more often.

I have been looking at some of the Bulge sets in question in the earlier posts.I like the Price of deception set myself,i don't find it offensive in the least. Its what happened during the battle and to put it bluntly they pretty much got what they deserved.I also don't have a problem with the 'Make sure he's dead' set.Again it must be an incident repeated thousands of times during the war in many different theatres, its one of the great things about K&C for me,Andys knack for producing realistic episodes. The only thing i don't like about the sets mentioned is the Stug.I don't know why but it just doesn't look right in Green.Again just my opinion.

I also purchased the Heydrich set when it came out.Now up until now i didn't really see a place for it in my collection, more of a stand alone set.But now with the release of the Resistance fighters i see more of a future for it in my collection. With the addition of these new figures and perhaps a Gestapo car i can see an exciting little display.

That's the good thing about our hobby isn't it Rob - each to their own choice and preferences.
I also can see a nice little diorama with the Heydrich, Gestapo and French Resistance sets, and maybe a Hanomag and/or armoured car - its what I've been thinking about every time I've mentioned that I'd like to see Resistance figures. I'm trying to be more disciplined in my collecting habits, so I reckon it'll be around June to September before I can fit these into my budget for this year. We'll see how it goes cos I just know that there's some even more exciting items going to be revealed over the next few months.

Cheers
