Out of Print Military Books (1 Viewer)

Here is another website that I have found very useful to search for an out of print book.

I have used it to search for "As New" 1st Edition/1st Impression hardcover books of a variety of military history books.

Here is the link: http://www.fetchbook.info/

You can do a search as a guest without the need to register.

Raymond.

Thank you both for the links, you cannot have too many for this purpose. I personally prefer the lightly used lower priced editions since I do use them for research but it sounds like these both may have those as well.

Haven't udpated this in a long time but here's the udpated list, List 75.

The book I'm after is called The Nek by Peter Burness. Going for silly money in some places. Burness is supposed to be reworking this book but would like to read the original first.

Richard Williams has now updated his list; he is up to list 78. Please see http://www.rwmilitarybooks.com/home/list78chris.html
Just a note. Mr. Wiiliams has an excellent book selection and website. He also lists his books through Abebooks but it is best to buy directly from him, ie., his website, as opposed to buying through Abebooks. Many dealers, Williams included, increase the price of their books when listed on Abebooks, in order to cover fees and such related to listing on Abebooks. Prices seen on Abe might be as much as 25% higher than the same listing on Mr. Williams own site. Brad has kindly provided a link to Mr. Williams' home site. -- Al

I will second sirsydney's suggestion of bookfinder.com. This site searches a database of booksellers worldwide. I have found a number of great books there.

I received the following email:

Books on List OP is available for shipping for a very limited time: till Sept 30. Currently about 1500 books primarily from the collections of Marchant Gardner, Marius Peladeau and Dudley Mecum. A wide mixture of books on Small arms, Civil War, British Army, World Wars I & II, Tanks Warships and Military Aircraft. Still 20 boxes remaining to be cataloged which will be mostly Tanks, Warships and Military aviation 1939 to present. If you miss this opportunity , they will be available again in September.

Browse through the current list at List OP as generated by the data base, arranged by author. There are links to the shopping cart. I also posted an unorganized static page for List OP Static which seems to be dated 2015 and stops at op-1259.

Got the same email. Never have understood why some of his books can only be ordered during certain (and very short) time periods. He apparently moves between two locations. -- Al

Did anyone ever go to this bookstore? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1508849447/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1 I use to buy books off them but only by mail. I never realized what a neat little bookstore it was.I am ordering this book.

I have been to this store, back in the early 90's. Went there when I worked with a local military book dealer. We were taking a collection of books to sell to the Military Bookman. I dealt with and talked almost exclusively with the main assistant, Jason Duberman, while my boss dealt with the owner. It was a great store with a main entrance on the street and a secondary entrance below street level. Duberman later branched out on his own, moved south to Leesburg, Va., and opened his own shop, Clio's Bookshop. Duberman has since passed away. He always spoke of the Military Bookman with affection and loved to recount the story about the movie that was filmed on the same street the store was on and all the disruption it caused (sorry, can't remember which movie) what with the traffic problems and movie stars constantly being around. It is another moment in time gone now.
I did, on occasion, purchase books from Military Bookman, mainly because they got some really hard to find books in stock. Remember this was all pre-internet and many books were much harder to find then than now. I am a collector that collects with condition in mind, being very picky about corner sharpness, dust jackets, etc., and Military Bookman was not picky about condition at all and didn't take much care in describing conditions, so I returned books on several occasions because the condition of the books weren't even close to what I would accept. The Colt's could be a might prickly to deal with if you were somewhat picky. Needless to say, I wasn't their favorite customer. :rolleyes2: -- Al
