Overrun" British 24th Foot Ambulance Overrun by Zulu Warriors (1 Viewer)

Looks like there is a change to the ambulance according to the WB facebook site. Looks like the colour may change to a Khaki drab and it will have the red cross on the wagon and the canvas. Not sure if this was the delay getting it out in August or if it will now be delayed further.

Sorry you misread what I stated. The ambulance will be equipment grey for 1879. The wagons were changed to khaki drab in the 1880s and green in the early twentieth century.
The Red Cross was added in the two locations, the canvas top and the second panel of the wooden body, and that did indeed add some time in production before they could be packaged.
I feel this was an important detail to omit to meet any delivery dates.
Thank you for your patience in advance,
Ken

Is it just me or should First Gear/wbritains not be looking to hire an operations type guy. Leave the creative side to Ken but someone needs to get this house in order. Imagine if K&C august releases came out in October.

Ken just took over not so long ago.Give the the man a chance.

I don't recall seeing any published catalogs by quarters from other manufacturers so we cannot make a direct comparison. If I did away with the catalog and went to monthly releases you would have no idea if any products were delayed or came in early. I have no plans on abandoning the printed catalogs in the future, they are a great record of what is made and also allow collectors to budget.

I also believe that we reserve the right to improve the products after production samples are delivered, even if it might move the delivery date.

I for one applaud Britain's delaying a release in pursuit of historical accuracy, especially a collection center piece that this ambulance promises to be.
Some OTHER makers out there might actually benefit by slowing down those monthly releases, and spend a little more time doing some proper research.

Personally, I think the other TS companies are smart for not exposing themselves to production delay scrutiny as it is very frustrating to collectors. Maybe getting rid of the catalogue would not be a bad idea after all for Britains. I am not sure how these catalogues help customers budget when expected release dates are so erratic. If you are expecting an ambulance in August and it comes in October how is that helpful.

I think you guys are missing the point. Yes unlike the recent Thomas Gunn Australian figure fiasco it better to catch historical errors before being released so to avoid reputational risk. My question is why is this just being noticed now before its expected release. I think this product was originally conceived during the Richard Walker era it was not something they whipped up this month. While I applaud Wbritains/Ken for not releasing a non accurate piece, why is no one asking the hard questions on quality control and delivery schedule.

Had it not been from the red crosses the ambulance would have been here I am sure. The other two sets slated for August delivery arrived as scheduled and also the Sierra releases arrived in a timely fashion. I think there may be a little bit of a turn around to be honest.

Production delays are common place I am afraid. I collect OO trains and the market is bare right now, I have been waiting for one set for almost two years !!! Delays in productions and a rise in price.

I have just received set 20099 Royal Artillery Gun Team today and it's a fantastic work of art,I am sure the Ambulance will be equally impressive and worth the wait, looking forward to the new catalogue

So per Chicago conversations late October or mid November appears the new target date... While I am sure it will be worth the wait and it will give me a chance to let my pocket book recover some more, not sure these delays help the brand image.... I am guessing as there is limited releases till the end of the year, this should help wbritains get on track or ahead of the curve as opposed to having a backlog of products that have been an issue in the past so some short term pain for long term gain is the likely the best way to view it..

So it has been released! Has anyone got theirs yet?

Not yet, getting discouraged with Britains. I have purchased almost every AZW set so far, but the new Magpie exclusives have me considering cutting back on the new AZW sets and only buy a few select sets. Sorry, for hijacking the thread.

My supplier is putting in an order with Britain's at the end of the month, so would seem mine will be pulling up mid December, spot on my budget schedule. Another Christmas present, how long can I use that excuse^&grin, Robin.

Great looking collection zulucollector !!!

I received mine just over a week ago, very impressed and along with the saving the guns piece it is one of my favourites.
