Ive notice alot especially in the US that people selling items dont like shipping OS,just wondering why?I have recieved about 50% of my collection from the US no drama,s no hassles and if the buyer is happy to pay for the shipping and insurance i dont understand the drama. Is it just the hassle of it or what,i know if i ever sold something it would be fine to ship OS especially if you are helping out a fellow collector chasing a item.......

I think this has become more of an issue since the US postal service introduced their flat-rate domestic shipping option, where for a set price you can send any of their three presized boxes (provided free with this shipping option) for a fixed price. Because the price is fixed, the seller always knows in advance precisely how much the shipping will be regardless of where in the country it is going, eliminating the need to take the package to the post office to determine the price then report back to the buyer, then back to the post office to ship. Besides, the boxes are free but can only be used domestically with this option. That's my guess. Frankly, I have a postal scale and will ship anywhere, but "meh" some people apparently would rather not go to the trouble.

Beats me:confused:

I have been shipping international for 12 years now.

It does require me to visit my local P.O. and stand in line for a few minutes.

No big deal.

My response is the same as John's: if someone will pay more for an item, I will ship it to Pluto :)

I've been shipping overseas for 7 or so years. There was a time when I wouldn't because I couldn't just print the postage and using the post office in NYC was like a Soviet bread line. If you had a job you just couldn't take the hour plus to stand in line.

Once they allowed for online printing it just simplified the process so that there's not much more effort than a domestic label.

I think there are a lot of casual sellers who don't understand this nor understand that there is an envelope which needs to be used.

Also, they likely think it is extremely risky (which it can be at times tho rarely).

I think the customs forms intimidate people. Thankfully gone are the days of writing out 5 copies of the form by hand for each package .

I hate those forms but, again, if someone will pay me more from overseas, shipping is not a problem. I've also done it for friends like Clive and Bernard for sellers who will not ship overseas.

The short customs form is now easier than ever...both addresses, one check mark..the description (toy soldiers) and the value...couldn't be easier. I just sent one this week.
