PA Toy Soldier Museum Open House--11/2/2013--photos (1 Viewer)

Really great photos. I especially like the photo of the US cavalry patrol and background display. Any idea as to who made these particular figures? The mounted India cavalry figure is also a very nice figure indeed.

Thanks for the information. Do you happen to know if these figures are still commercially available either as castings or painted figures as I cannot find a website for Minimen of Ohio or a stockist of their figures.

Brad,

I have no immediate plans for a trip to the US as yet. However, I would like to add the Toy Soldier Museum in Cresco, PA to any future itinerary for sure. It would be good to time my visit so as to maximise the toy soldier experience in relation to shows, museum visits etc. From the website, I understand the museum is open the year round (but advised to call ahead to confirm dates and times) in addition to the bi-annual open house days.

Raymond.

Hello Raymond:

Karen & I were at Jim Hillestad's Toy Soldier Museum in May 1998. Jim has a two story building on his property devoted to his museum save a small space set aside for his office and a supply room. It was a most worthwhile visit. I took a video camera along to capture the whole museum. I would not mind seeing it again after all these years.

Best regards, Gary

Hi Gary,

Yes, I enjoyed viewing the photographs of the interesting displays at the Jim Hillestad's Toy Soldier Museum. There is a good mix of military and civilian themes. I recall the photographs of your visit to Len Taylor's Trophy workshop in Wales back in circa 1995, but not for your museum visit.

Best Wishes, Raymond.
