Pacific-Episode 10 (1 Viewer)

I will see no10 next Wednesday night in oz.What can I say about the series. The Pacific battles were just terrible .The US marines were some tough blokes. They just kept going forward no matter what.I can see why the Pacific campaign is not popular with allot of collectors as there was no glory or honour shown towards the enemy. They just killed everyone.I did enjoy the series but it left me a little short in some places. To much love story for me in a war series. But on a whole I will be buying it on DVD for my collection as the fighting sequences are great.Simmo.

I was surprised when I was on another forum how many disliked this series.A lot thought it was accurate as far as the battles go.Thought is was accurate as far as replicating the era.Didn't like the sex scenes.:eek:but the biggest complaint was that it lacked cohesion as it kept jumping back and forth to three individual stories whereas BOB followed the story of one company and you got to know a lot of other soldiers better.Even though I loved this series I think the last reason has some merit.

Just wish the series had a little more in the way of Battle Action.....But it was excellent. Alex

Was channel surfing in my hotel room in Khampala Uganda of all places and stumbled upon an episode of this show. Not sure which episode. It was the episode where the one marine gets sent to hospital because of his enuresis.
I thought it was quite good. It is a human story. You don't go off and have experience like that at age 19 without sustaining major psychological strain. The rain the misery etc are all true refelctions of what went on. I think the series is a fitting tribute to a remarkable military organization (USMC) who have a superb combat record and are known and respected throughout the world. I don't have satelite at home so I will have to wait for this to come out on DVD. Will definitely buy it off Amazon when it comes out.

Damian, I believe the episode you saw was #4 of the series. It sure was a good one. -- Al

The last episode was Wednesday here in The Netherlands.
And I first conceived the series disappointed.
I had expected more.

Read an article on Pacific,,making of,in the Military officers journal, while on a VA med visit today. Interview with Dale Dye,he stating that "NONE of the actors had military experience",the spin being that none had to unlearn any modern military methods compared to the WW2 training they received,,doubting former Capt Dye USMC served or trained in WW2 ,I consider it a stretch ,more reflective of the 98% non server population these days.just another non PC observation.
