I know previous K & C Pacific Set releases have not been big sellers and wondered if low sales was at least partly due to the narrow scope of the release(s) - being only US Marines and Japanese based sets.

I can understand why a manufacturer that is testing this theater would initially only want to dip his toe in the water. However the down side is that you only attract collectors that have a particular interest in those two subjects.

Lately I have noted more interest in this LARGE theater of World War Two so let's have another go at convincing K & C to revisit The Pacific!

Let's get some ideas for expanding this neglected but vital part of World War Two. Here's my small list to start us off:

* Australian Army troops in tropical gear complete with bush knives etc.

* Cut down (light weight) 25 Pounder Gun used by Aussie troops (as featured in the Canberra War Memorial Andy ;) )

* Pacific Islander Stretcher Bearers etc.

* German U-Boat and Commercial Raider crew members. These could be based on landing parties looking for water on remote islands (My thanks to Murphy's War for that idea) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murphy's_War

Japanese bicycle troops and armor racing down the Malay peninsula and Empire troops trying to stop them. The Tiger of Malasia would be a good character figure. Good armor possibilities here. -- lancer

I don't think imagination was used in the Pacific sets. The Marines were always beat up, and their uniforms were varied, dirty and messy. The Marines were dirty and messy also. This could be Andy's chance to get into the gritty mode, and beat CS to the punch in the Pacific Theater. Andy look at some Pacific Theater picture books, there are so many good poses, and interesting uniform combinations. If someone does it right the Pacific will sell. Alex

Great thoughts on the subject quoted here. The terrain possibilities, instead of blown up buildings, have palm trees, tropical plants and muddy trails, beaches. Japanese sets of assaulting soldiers that could be used on all fronts of the Pacific, against all allied troops.
