Simmo I think that is going to be common on everyone’s piece that fiddles with that tank rider too much.
I don’t use that rider as on mine his hand will not fit between the tank and handle well enough to be stable.

If he were to fall off and hit the track it will damage the track.

If you try and bend the brass handles the paint will pop off, just as it does on a lead figure.

Have you guys tried Tacky Wax to secure figures? I use it on my glossies.

Just to let you know, I used tacky wax on a Figarti figure and when I went to move the figure the paint came off on the wax.

I think the flaking could be solved by acid etching the smooth metal surfaces.

I must agree as we have discussed in the past that the technique you mentioned could be a working solution as the paint should adhere better to the surface. But since this is out of my specialty box I must defer to the professionals making these items. In my short life span I have come to realize that my Military History Professor was correct in that I/we know "10% less than nothing."
