Paint for K&C ? (1 Viewer)

I know this question has been asked before and answered - can someone tell me the best paint to buy that matches King & Country figure paint ?? :confused:

It would also be helpful to know - where the best place to buy it ?

And if anyone knows the website site for said company ;)

I have some touch ups to do with a few of my figures and I am looking for the correct Brown, Green, Black and Flesh Paints to match my K&C guys.
 
Ron,Sometimes there is no exact color as painters mixed colors to get different shades of a color and each painter is different.

Vallejo Acryllics any hobby store that sellls miniatures usually sells the stuff.
Geta a very fine brush and build up the paint level in the damaged area.:D
 
Like some of the repaint guys, I mix to match, but if you go to an AC Moore, in the paint aisle, there are any number of different shades offered that might get you close..Bring the figure along to compare..Michael
 
I thought K&C used Tamiya on the older stuff and vallejo or a combination on the recent stuff.

Kilted is right they use vallejo and in fact a lot of the colours you will find are named for want you want.......ie Waffen SS camo green! British army camo green etc etc

Then with some you need to mix.

If you google vallejo you will find a stockist near you and if it is anything like the UK nearly ALL model shops carry it. even craft shops.

their main site http://www.acrylicosvallejo.com just gives you the distriputer in USA

You can also buy WWII kits etc where they have a set of 12 - 18 colours that are all WWII relevant!

You can also buy a box that has 80 or so colours in...........this is the one i got as it has a lot of shades that dont need mixing. I have to very rarely mix now for K&C stuff.

If it is a chip you will need to build up over a few hours the paint especilly if it went to the metal. As you have to compensate for the base coat.

Need any touch up tips send me an e-mail.

I saw a 72 Color Package - is that the one you have ?

OMG :eek: :eek: :eek: - so many paints on that site !

I appreciate the help - what is the best package for me to buy to have on hand to do "touch ups" with King & Country figures ??

There were NAPOLEONIC, WWII Allied and WWII German Sets - very confused if I need to buy all or is there just one set pre=packaged set for me to buy to handle all my repair needs ?

if you go for the 72 pack you will have more than enough colours!!

The set range packages are good for what they say! Ie you wont get many NAP colours in the WWII Germand set etc.

But the 72 set covers them all. Depends on budget mate.

Also a good set of brushs are essential. 000 00 0 etc!
 
Andy has said they use Tamiya. Ron, we have a hobby shop near us. I can always pick up what you need and mail it to you. Let me know.

Also, a friend of mine who does his own toy soldiers and has done repairs for me says that K & C uses a mixture, not just one.
 
Don't forget to use a metal primer before start painting.

Not sure what you mean when said "uses a mixture, not just one" ??

Do you mean the K&C use both Tamiya and Vallejo paints on their figures ??

I appreciate your offer on paint pick-ups - I might take you up on that - this is all very new to me and also kinda exciting ! :D

From my research in the last 24 hours - I have found that Vallejo Paints are better packaged and organized than Tamiya. But, I dont want to get Vallejo Paints if they dont match well with K&C figures.

Has anybody got some experience with using these paints and which do they perfer between the two on repairing K&C figures ??

And on the subject of BRUSHES - what brushes should I purchase for minor repair work ? My interest is only in repairing paint chips on K&C figures - not mass painting of castings.

Regarding the brushes, ROn buy the best you can afford as these will not shed while you are painting. I would buy a few fine ones as it seems you are doing tiny repairs. Make sure you wash them well after use and store them bristles up and you will have many years of use from them.

Ron, buy the best sable brushes and this photo shows a 000 size against you-know-who for a size comparison.

if you are to judge which colors match best did you look at the repair I sent you? When I did the touch up I used the vallejo paints.

For the paint chips try using the smaller brushes.5/0 18/0 I use them a lot.

From left to right we have 000, 0 & 2. The others i.e. 00, 1 are somewhere in between these.
