Do any of the members here play paintball?

I'm a hardcore ex-pro player since '82.

I was awful at baseball.

I skated like I had cinder blocks on my feet.

Then I found out what I was supposed to do.

I tell my wife," Ward Cleaver played golf, I play paintball".

It sort of explains my frequent sunday disappearances.:)

I played a couple of times.

My ability at paintball can best be described as "Cannonfodder.":D

I was always one of those poor saps with the paintball-course-owned single shot jobs...facing rapid fire enemies.

I remember the waiver we had to sign at one outdoor place...it listed EVERYTHING that could happen.

"I know that I could be impaled on a stick, drown in the pond..."

I played about 8-10 times from 1994 -2003 have not played since.
Did manage to capture the enemy's flag one time then some guy shot me in the shoulder blade at close range {almost broke the skin}.
I cant se myself playing a again anytime soon...much easier to play with ToySoldiers.

Is there any "paintball championship" or any paintball league?

Or is this just unprofesional group of beer buddys go chasing around:D

I'm suppose to go to a paintball place this weekend to celebrate my friend's birthday but I haven't played in like 10 years.

Yes, there are a lot of 'pro' leagues, like the NPPL, and places for semi-pro, novice and amature. There are also large "Big Games" with over 1,000 players, and 'Scenario Games' which are mission-based, and 'themed'. Oklahoma D-Day is the largest, and one heck of a time from what I hear.
Check it out:

As for me, I'm an 'old-school' player who is most interested in 'stock-class' play, or playing as the game was originally devised, single shot pump action guns powered by 12 gram CO2 cartridges with a magazine parrellel to the barrel carrying no more than 15 rounds. I played a lot of the 'open' and 'unlimited' paintball where electronic guns can shoot upwards of 30 balls a second, but 'stock' is how I learned to play nearly 30 years ago, and how I like to play, and the way I play the best. I do play some scenario games, maybe one a year, and a few 'open-unlimited' games, but I stick with 'stock and open pump' games mostly. My 11 year old daughter got a pink Phantom, a lengendary stock gun for her birthday last year. She's yet to zap me with it yet, but she's trying....................

Thank you for the INFO.This paintball sound really interesting...
About the weapons:
-do you buy your own or you get them at the painball action
-what are the prices of the weapons
-is there any rules or you are out when you are hit or you can still play?

You can buy your own. There's a gun for every style of play, and every budget. Mass-merchandisers sell plastic guns for $10.00 and under, or upwards of $200.00. Paintball specialty shops have the guns for the 'regular' players, people who want to play regularly. These guns can cost upwards to $1000,00 or more. Then there are the 'custom' shops who build to what the customer specifies.

These are the folks that I deal with, custom and semi-custom guns, pump and mechanical semi-automatic. The electronically controlled guns are something to behold with their speed, but it costs money to feed a beast like that, and I have a whole flock of children, so I stick to pump and mechanical semi.
Parks have rental guns for a reasonable fee, and they supply all safety gear that you'll need.
As for basic rules, there's about a million ways to play, but usually if you're hit, you're out until the next game, or a designated amount of time.

Dont shot paintball but got involved with "air-soft" many years ago. Totally more realistic - weapons are 1:1, weight, feel, action, etc. Just about every weapon conceived since WWll is available. Years ago, if someone's wife left for the day, we'd all show up at the house for close-quarters combat. What are all these black and white plastic bb's doing all over the house?

air soft!??
So this is not just a myth,it is really exist?
Can you tell us more about this game?
Sound interesting.....

Ales, go to Red Wolf Air-Soft..... one of the leading air-soft companies..... has all the info that u need......

I refferee'd a lot of Airsoft games, but only played a few with gas-operated pistols. It's funny, but they are decidedly two different camps. Those who play Airsoft, don't play Paintball, and those who play Paintball, don't play Airsoft. I've seldom found many who play both.
I find the pace of Airsoft too slow, and some of the combat 'static'. Players seem to be unwilling to take a chance with a crazy flanking move, or a rush into entrenched players, they seem more willing to slug it out. Most likely due to cost of ammo. You can get about a million rounds of Airsoft ammo for the cost of 2,000 rounds of paint.
