Next big question guys where did Andy get his Palm Trees in his Egypt display??

WELLINGTON

Wellington,

Does that mean you decided to collect the Egyptians?

The company is called Department 56, they really make a wide variety of great stuff! It is primarily a XMas display company, but their scenery pieces fit well with K & C for a relatively good price. Many of the trees and extras in the K & C website displays are from them.

The tall palm trees are from set #52820 - Village Palm Set.

The well and short palm trees are from set #59793 - Town Well and Palm Tree set.

They also make nice stone walls, roads, paths, and a limestone outcropping.

If you want more detailed, but more expensive, palm trees, try JG Miniatures. They make three of them and I use them in my K & C Egyptian display. Very realistic!

I have decided to collect my favorites from both the Crusaders (catapult, ladder section and all the British Knights), and favorites from Egypt (Temple Facade, pair of pharohs, mummy painter mummy wrapper some guards painters architects, stone carvers
scaffolding and pharoghs head). I can make a couple nice scenes with these to add a little diversity to my collection.

Cheers

PS THANKS FOR THE INFO ON THE PALM TREES.....:) :)

Good choices, I think the K & C mummy sets are the best of the lot. With the egyptian K&C, you might want to try adding some resin or pewter statutes from Pacific Giftware (sometimes called Summit?) as extras. They make several dozen inexpensive small ancient egyptian statutes from 2 to over 20 inches in height. I believe the "Desert Song" display on the K & C website included one of their statutes. Here are a few examples from them:

Another added bonus with the palm trees are the buildings..from the holy land series, not only are they made well but will go well with the egyptian crusader and afrika series..I bought the whole lot, which now lets me create a wide range of scenics...:) ern.

I went on EBAY and had a look at the HALL MARK 54 Palm Trees they are also VERY expensive $40.00 US for a tree plus the guy wants $25.00 US for shipping. Can I find these anywhere else for sale at a reasonable price?

Cheers

Do any of you guys own both JG PALMS and 54 PALMS if so which are better, both are fairly expensive but it seems you get a little more with the Department 54 sets any input on this?

Cheers

Nick (Morbshock) makes terrific palm trees for his dioramas, maybe he should do some up for members at reasonable rates ;) Seriously, there is a lack of decent dio vegetation at reasonable prices.

Or he can post it on the new How to section. ;)

For realism the Dept 56 palms are the best originally selling for 45.00 U.S. They rarely go over that price..amd complement K&C as per Andy,s dioramas show...I bought 3 sets ,most times the postage was more than the item but well worth every penny..My way of thought is Premium collection..premium extras...ern..:)

What are the DEPT 56 Trees made out of....also what are JG Trees made out of? Look at me concerned about toy Palm Trees when there are children starving in the World.....

Thanks to Shannon I solved my Pal Tree dilemma...I went with the JG Line and have placed my order through her.......:)
