Palm Trees (1 Viewer)

Both made of wood?
Both can be pulled around by horses? (Apart from the palm tree.)

Sorry. :p

Post #3+ on this thread Nick.

Oooooogh Aaaaargh - You been on the scrumpy again Simon? LOL :D Are you from Dorset in Sherwood? LOL :D

Ah,
In Defence of the Pineapple - The famous North African Battle of the Fruit Bowl. :D

Nice dio pics. There's no stopping you now.

Getting a bit weakened for those FJs though.
Must be strong, must be strong.... There's no going back.....Look to the future....

Nick,

I am also very impressed by your scratch built palm trees. Between your palm trees and Gordon's recent scratch build palm trees, we are going to have a lot of choices for desert and Pacific island dioramas.

Thanks Louis for the compliment, I do appreciate it. Gordon makes fantastic stuff. He doesn't know this, I am a big fan of his style of work. But, I must say that my scratch built palm trees are not mass produced, well not yet, so each one is different. You can have twenty of my palms and never have a duplicate. Just like a real jungle. LOL. Thanks again Louis and watch out for falling coconuts!

Before you get too carried away with your palm trees I thought I should point out that neither JG Miniatures nor Build-a-Rama palm trees are mass produced and are also made by hand. I assume you are singling out Dept. 56 trees? We should remember this is a JG thread. Maybe we should move it elsewhere. If you'd like to post a price for your palm trees we can move it to collector classifieds or perhaps more appropriately "Other Manufacturers." What do you think?

Shannon,

Please mind the coconuts! :D

Please don't assume. I just jumped in on a palm tree conversation and it snow balled into trouble. Let's not get defensive for no reason. There are several companies out there who make palm trees that are, resin, plastic and porcelain and they are not related to the toy soldier world. I have done a lot of research on this so I know. I like JG...... and Build-a.......,they make great products. As an artist I know what it takes to create such products like a "PALM TREE". I appreciate talent no matter who they are or whatever company they work with. Do what you wish with this palm tree thread.

I don't see any problem with leaving this discussion where it is as the discussion is palm trees. Sometimes discussions go a little off tangent but I don't see the case here as we're discussing different manufacturers even though it's on a JG thread. I say leave it where it is and let the discussion continue. If JG would like to chime in, the more, the merrier.

Also, this part of the forum hardly gets any discussion. A little activity can't be a bad thing.

Nice thought but the uniforms would be out of place. The only early period napoleonics I,ve ever seen have all been in gloss finish and i,m not a gloss kind of guy. I,m more into the later napoleonic battles any way. Del prado has a nice camel mounted figure from this campaign and there are also a few mameluke figures out there also.
