Peaky Blinders (1 Viewer)

BRILLIANT Brett 6 x 1 hour episodes didn't want it to finish highly recommend.

The Peaky Blinders were a criminal gang based in Birmingham in the late 19th century and, to a lesser extent, in the early 20th century. According to Carl Chinn, the name is popularly said to derive from the practice of stitching razor blades into the front of their flat caps, which could then be used as weapons. However, Chinn points out that this was a highly unlikely and cumbersome way of attacking someone. He says a more mundane explanation is that "peakys" was a common nickname for the then-popular flat caps with peaks. The gang were known to have a distinctive clothing style, wearing the peaked caps, cravats and bell-bottom trousers, while "a line of brass buttons down the front gave added distinction.

Just finished watching the 2 seasons (12 episodes) and all I can say is it is fantastic. Murphy is brilliant (as he always seems to be) and the supporting cast is just as good. Very well written and very gritty. Great series. -- Al

Looks interesting. Is it on Netflix?
Cheers,
Brendan

Al,

I just happened to notice it because I was looking to see if season 4 of Wallander was on Netflix.

BTW, Wallander is a good detective series, set in Sweden. There is both an English version and a Swedish version. Both are very good.

It's a funny story, Brad, as I called my daughter to let her know that PB was back and new and she told me that she had gotten the info e-mail from Netflix about PB this very AM and she was just getting ready to call me about it. I will give Wallander a view. -- Al

For those who may have missed it, the latest season is now on Netflix.
