I am curious about purchasing a pegasus bridge.... Any thoughts ie worth the money. I normally collect britains and K&C.

Don't think you'll get one anymore. They only made a handful a number of years back and then stopped doing them due to shipping costs and breakages during transit.
As to whether they're worth the money, yes, at the original selling price, but they are huuuuge, coming in at just under 5 foot in length and they're flipping heavy.

I believe the plan was to figure out how to prevent the breakages but I believe it may have been dropped or postponed.

I originally got 2 in. They were all destroyed. They then sent me 10 more to the us. Basically you needed a lot of glue, putty and patience. I sold all at a reduced price. Once they are built up by a collector they could never be shipped. 2 of the 10 went to the UK. I think I may the have parts to make up one more?? If interested send me an email to matt@hobbybunker.com I may be able to dig it up.

First of all thanks for the history headsups as that explains why you never see them on the secondary market. I have sent an email to you as I think I am up for the challenge..... I will gladly share a pic of the final product with the rest of the forum.... cheers jay

Jay,

Good that you're up for a challange mate. {sm4}

Mine is very much a slow work in progress, but the bridge when I got hold of it......{sm2}

It's all perfectly do-able with a bit of time and patience. The biggest problem is the weight of the counter balance. Even when it was designed, there was an awful lot of weight resting precariously on the bridge rails. Now that it's broken off, I may have to add a couple of visible supports. Don't want to, but whatever I use, I don't think will hold, so a bit of support may be necessary.

Glue. Lots of it. Hope you can get hold of one. Mine's in and out of the garage doing bits and pieces when the other half is out of the house. Not that I'm worried about telling her that we've got a new 5 foot decorative piece, no, not that at all.......{sm5}

Cheers

That actually is a very impressive piece. I look forward to seeing the final version. It looks huge!!!!!!!!!!!! Brad

Thanks Simon.......i am just waiting a response from Matt...

Hope it works out Jay, it's a fantastic piece and if you've got the patience, you'll be able to turn it in to a pretty impressive show piece. I'll have to put a thread together to record my (slow!) progress.

Cheers,
Simon

That's the ticket, almost looks fine as is. Really will make one spectacular diorama.{sm4}, Robin.

It arrived last nite..... I think all the pieces are there....however no manualView attachment 124985.... not sure how the last remaining piece in the front is inserted?

Hey, that looks in pretty good condition! Nice pick up. That piece sits in front of the big counterweight, before you get to the 'H' I-beam structure.

Cheers

do you have to remove the metal rods that stick out from this piece or do simply try to poke them thru the holes in the H I beam?

Jay,

Mine was still intact inside the I beam frame as per photo:

It should pivot / be able to rock slightly back and forth on the metal bar. It is a tight fit to try and wriggle the metal bar through the I beam frame....

so I'd try and remove the metal bars first and then position the structure inside the frame and thread the bars through both. If they're cemented in tight, you may have to make some compromises and cut them off and use something else to secure the structure to the frame.

Cheers
Simon
