The 1st Belgian ww1 figure "The Carabinier" from TGm, although I have not seen it yet except in a picture, seems to correspond very well with the real thing . I have one small remark and that is the colour of the greatcoat. Maybe the colour in the picture is not what it is in reality but the Carabiniers were called by the Germans "the black devils" because of the blackgreen ( almost black) colour of their coats .TG announced the yellow seam in the length of the trousers on the final production figure which is also correct . For the rest no remarks

The correct overcoat color is an interesting question. I have never seen an actual carabineer overcoat, but I have seen the standard infantry issue overcoat which is a VERY dark blue, almost black. I have seen carabineer overcoats in color illustrations that run from an almost black shade to the very green shade TGM uses. I just don't have the research material to make a call on this but I do know the Carabineers were call the Black Devils. -- Al

Believe me it's black green ( almost black as you say). I spoke with the curator of the "Museé de l'Armée" in Brussels

Guy...

You repaint them anyway so, its not an issue. You will darken the jacket on them won't you??

Got my Belgian Carabiniers today (thanks to TF for the usual fast and very efficient service) and I am very impressed with them. The figure is quite detailed with a delicacy that isn't evident in the photos. The question of the overcoat color is somewhat negated, as well. The coat is a darker green than shows in the photo, bringing it much closer to the color ills and photos I have seen of it. It is not quite black/green but it is dark. It works very well. These figures go extremely well with my KC 1914 French figures, to whom I have attached these Carabiniers as local intel.:wink2: Well done TGM. -- Al

Thanks for the info Al. I will hopefully receive mine after Eastern ; and the good news is, since it sold so well more is coming . The next figures we will see are the carabiniers without a moustache ,but more early ww1 Belgians in the pipeline !!!!! ( also some cavalry )

Guy, I would lover to see more early war (1914) Belgians, infantry and cavalry. I would really love to see TGM make the dog-drawn MG units on the march. -- Al

I'll have to snap up the next release...too late for this one. I can confirm that the coats are very dark- I, like guy, have been to the Musee de l'Armee in Brussels. It is a must-see if you are in the area.
