I saw these on TSSD website. Late April, maybe. Look nice. I haven't painted any WW2 54mm in years. Maybe now I will.DSC02228.JPGDSC02230.JPG

Pegasus dont get talked about much but they seem to have some nice stuff ie Gladiators.
And WW2 Russian Naval Infantry look realy good from what i have seen.

Problem I see is that they are probably close to 1-35th in scale. They won,t match up in size with the current trend in larger 1-32 scale figures, ie: TSSD & Conte.

I'm just thrilled that someone is bringing out a new set of Green Devils. I like the old Airfix set, but those lads truly need some reinforcements. If this set is up to the standard of the Soviet Naval infantry, they will be fantastic. Can't wait to put a brush to them...{sm4}

TO be sure, Pegasus does do some great stuff but they are on the smallish side. Worth a box or two anyway. ~dOUg

I wish people would stop using that phrase ' larger 1/32' - there is no such thing, it's like saying some one got the bigger half or a pool has shallow depths. Conte. TSS, Vixtrix,:( etc are 1/30 scale (60mm) Not 1/32nd (54mm) Blame the metal ranges, or glandular dysfunction for the jump in size from true 54mm

The reason I use the phrase "larger 1-32" is because the makers, Conte, TSSD market their figures 1-32 not 1-30. Therefore someone not familier with said figures would believe that they are all the same size.

Why don't you just say '60mm' it's a lot easier....

Some of the problem with the 'growth' of 1/32 to 54mm to 60mm to 1/30 are the freaking bases the figures are on. I personally like the detailed bases on some figures such as Conte, but it definitely makes the figures 'taller' than necessary. The figures are def trending upwards in size - the TSSD romans and barbs are a prime example - too big!! They are even bigger than Conte's spartans for god sakes! And they dwarf the previous ancient Saxons, Normans, and Vikings that Conte has released. The CTS new ww2 Germans are also too big - out sizing Conte's germans and TSSD's germans as well. Then there is Barzso guys, which have improved over the years but those guys look like little dwarves when compared to some of the latest offerings. Ah well, such is the life of the plastic collector - we should all be so happy that we are living in the new golden age of plastic soldiers, armor and vehicles! Better to be a plastic collector vs. metal - if you have so much $$ to spend on a toy hobby - then kudo's to you all, I am just jealous! and poor! ha! :p;)

Acutally, I am surprised to hear about the CTS germans; I have them with the Marx germans and american GI's and they match perfectly. I agree that TSSD and Conte figures are more towards 60 mm (except COnte zulu's which match to a T the AIP zulu's). And certainly agree about Barzso, way too small with the exception of the new Rev war figures.

Here's some shots of varying figure sizes:
TSSD vs. Conte

TSSD vs. Italeri

TSSD vs. Conte (actually the Spartans aren't that undersized vs. TSSD barbs, but they are a little bit vs. the Romans)

I thought Romans were kinda undersized folks, but these romans are around 6'4" NBA guards.

Roman Archer with segmented armour ?...totaly useless figure.
Nice pics though Thyer,I still paint the old Conte Medieval figs love em!....But i passed on the TSSD Romans & barbs just to darn big a scale for me to paint!

I think the Paragon figures also have the base issue. When you consider Marx generally just had a flat base which worked fine. Too many of the bases on new figures wind up limiting what you can do with them.
