Good haul, you're lucky to have an adequate supply of that range in Britain, postage to Australia would be horrendous {eek3}

I think around £100, but depends on plane, i know that the dealer Peter Nathan in Sidney buys them. i drove to pick them up, a round trip of 538 miles, with only 9 miles of non-motorway, fast but not a great way to spend the day, not a nice drive, but couple of stops and 4 teas along the way, went a bit 'auction crazy' and not sure will keep all, but 4-5 definates for my collection.

At least you get to keep, just, The Ashes.

Very nice haul you got there, Barkmann! I’m guessing the German Albatross to the right in the photo is the “impostor”? It looks like the Ace-41 Jasta 46 model, which is one of my favorites.

Big star for you, that is correct, i bid on it as i also liked that one, saw it at a show, afraid no box, which was OK with T Gunn as i can get similar boxes. Sounds wrong way round but wanted a WW1 as have nearly all the JJD WW1 ground crew and needed something to use them on.

I dont know how you guys can display so many large aircraft, I can squeeze small models like fighters into my displays but my only bomber, Lancaster S -Sugar from 467 Sqd is currently 'displayed' on the top of a cupboard {eek3}

Nice Lancaster, want one, but spending the amount of money it costs together with no room to display means i have held back spend £1500 on something that will be kept in a box. I am waiting for the next Sunderland Flying Boat to be released, that i will make an exception for. But currently the biggest i have is a H111, which i have no room for and it is still in it's box. i find the single engined, Spits, ME109s, Hurricanes, FW's, ME262s etc will go in a case that is 50cm square, with a few figures, tend to put them on the bottom 3 or 4 shelves and then have land force figures and vehicles on the top 3 or 4 shelves. For the two engined [or larger planes] i have a glass corner case and they fit in there, DO15, F Battle, BV141, FW189 also smaller fighters do fit in the Ikea Dolft cabinet. see pic, this is just an opinion, but space is one of the two barriers to collecting, with other being finance, ofcourse.

When i find a place in the rural location i am looking at, i want a room big enough to display my whole collection, i have estimated 30ftX30ft would do, have loads of books as well. That is one of the main search criteria, that and not on main road because of the cats.

Thanks the Lanc is a nice model, it's a Hatchet partworks project that I bought from a guy on ebay, came with a glass coffee table type display unit but that proved to be too large to fit in my downsized villa and ended up in local tip sadly. And the Lanc is literally displayed on top of a cupboard, complete with some k & c vehicles and figures, of course you can't see the top and rear section but as it over hangs the cupboard you see the cabin, engines, bomb bay etc. Not ideal but looks ok actually and completely out of the way.

You have nice display units, look like commercial grade. I'm sure you're looking forward to buying a home with larger display area, I assume you're avoiding the main road because of car issues rather than cats :wink2:

That was a great partwork, know a couple of people who have it, only partwork i have is the James Bond DB7 from Eaglemoss, bought it already made, it is huge as well. On the main road, it is that cars and cats do not really mix, plus i do not want to move rural area and live right next too aa main road, know that a lot of the house were built when the road was probably a small one and it has been widened, but want a bot of peace and quiet.

On the cabinets i have around 30 of them ranging from 50cm X 50cm, to 100cm X 40cm, and a couple 80cm X 80 cm, which will fit some of my larger planes and dioramas. The largest i have is 220cm long and 180cm wide, which will fit the 4 engine bombers, but the trouble will be getting through a normal sized door into the room.
