I was going to post this one on the third, but couldn't wait, so here we go.

This one has been in the works since I first cracked open the American Heritage book and saw images of Pickett's Charge from the Gettysburg Cyclorama.

Garnett, Kemper and Armistead's men approach the Union line..............

Union troops from the 1st MN, 20th MA, 59th NY, 69th and 71st PA held positions along a stone wall and into 'the angle".........

Further north, Fry, Marshall and Davis's men advanced towards the Union line, defended by Arnolds Battery and the 1st DE, 12th NJ, 111st and 125th NY..........

The 13th and 16th VT flanked the attack on the far left of the Union line as other regiments rushed to support the Union line as the Confederates got closer.........

Casualties mounted for the Confederates, but on they came, punching a hole in the center of the Union line at the angle, Armistead led his men up and over a stone wall, overtaking Cushing's battery in the process......

The fighting was hand to hand, Union troops rushed in to blunt the advance and the attack failed.

To the north, the North Carolina regiments also had brief success but were also driven off and the attack ended..........

The charge had failed, the battle was over and the tide of war had turned forever.......

Thanks Brad, glad you like it.

I had to take some liberties with this, I could have used about another two feet on either side of it..............

Beautiful dio, as usual, George. Always impressed by the huge number of figures. I especially like your action at the angle and the NC troops in support of that action, to the left. They seem to get forgotten in the furor over Armistead and his men. I like your reference to American Heritage as I also loved that publication with the wonderful battle 'maps' and their hundreds of little figures. I still enjoy looking at them.:wink2: -- Al

A very impressive display, George {bravo}}
And a real pleasure to view.

Thanks Al and yes, the North Carolina regiments are the forgotten ones in this charge, they advanced beyond the angle to it's right before being pushed back.

Loved (and still do) those Greenspan maps............the Gettysburg edition from American Heritage along with the Waterloo version are two of my favorite books.............love the inside front and rear covers of the Gettysburg book.

Amazing effort and unbelievable amount of work. It's the best diorama of Pickets charge I have ever seen.
