Thomas Gunn 1:30 FW-190 Tropical LUFT001(B)
Focke-Wulf Fw-190A-3 “White 6”, produced 2010, 100 pieces
I think It is not really a tropical version, because the filter is wrong (normal configuration)
You can see it here:
http://www.worldwarphotos.info/gallery/germany/aircrafts-2/focke_wulf_fw_190/focke-wulf-fw-190-trop/
On the photo is a FW-190F-2/trop based on the A-5 from Schlachtgeschwader 4 /North Italy
But it seems that not all Fw-190 that used in Africa have a sand filter
Also the camouflage was a bit wrong, it is for the Northern Italy 1944 but at this time there are mainly F-2 /F-8 types, based on A5/A-8 variants, I guess, definitively no A-3.
Instrument panel in the cockpit could more detail in my opinion.
Only a very small number of A-3 were delivered at DAK or better to Africa, mostly of the FW-190 were A-4
I made some small repaints, because I had not the skill (and decals) to make a complete repaint.
-in yellow painted rudder and bottom side of the cowling
-in white painted tip of the propeller, ailerons on the underside that the complete wing tips are white, also the Rumpfband at the fuselage completed that it is wrapped around the fuselage
-tip of the Pitot tube painted “metal”
So it has more the appearance of an airplane in North Africa with the typical white propeller tip of II./JG 2 “Richthofen” that also was amongst other at Kairouan Airfield, Tunisia. It was good for me that a unit emblem is missing because JG 2 don’t use the typical unit emblem in Africa.
Despite everything I like this model, it is the only desert version of a FW-190 in 1:30.
And it is really an A-3, I guess, not a mix like other FW-190 models
