pics to share!!! (2 Viewers)

Neil inspired me to share a project that is nowhere near finished, but still fun to show. It's a combo of FL Vehicles and figures, with Figarti, HJB, FOV and KC in support. I'm including Figarti rail cars (though I'm aware it's very unlikely German rolling stock would be near the front due to gauge differences with Russian rolling stock. Still looking for a suitable background, but gotta love the BuilaRama grass/road mats. It's meant to represent a kampfgruppe reorganizing for a thrust to the Volga.

Ahhh, our First legion section seems to be coming around a little, it has been way to quiet here of late, so I'm very glad to see the pics both Neil and Mike posted, all of the pics are excellent, glad to see some action:)...Sammy

I think that's the word I've been seeking for a while...therapy. It truly is at times.
Thanks guys, I'll post progress as it starts 'coming together'.

Holy Cow{eek3} You have a whole army group advancing. Very impressive. Everything looks very good together Mike. You need to keep us posted on this project. "Nowhere near finished" something tells me your gonna need a large area to display everything that you have invisioned.

Great looking shots. I agree that you said it best. This truly is therapy.

well I can tell you what I learned when I shot the pics in this thread:
http://www.treefrogtreasures.com/forum/showthread.php?40521-More-pics-of-modular-city

I went into a camera shop in late november with the intention of getting a setup similar to Frank's, but being that I was a newb, the guy talked me out of it. Instead he sent me home with two things:

a) a 40" diffusion panel & stand (came in this kit)
http://fjwestcott.com/product/photo-basics/40-5-in-1-reflector-kit

and

b) a dual 500W Tungsten lamp & stand with umbrella kit similar to this (but a different brand & 500W)
http://fjwestcott.com/product/photo-basics-constant-lighting-kits/2-light-ulite-umbrella-kit

Too much equipment for what was actually needed; in a) all that was necessary was the white diffusion panel & stand, and in b) one lamp with stand. The second lamp & both umbrellas weren't used (but they came in a kit & he told me they might be handy later). So if you want to bargain shop, a good light setup could be had for <$150, as I've seen those lamps sold singly for $50, without umbrella. So figure something like $50 each for lamp, diffuser, diffuser stand.

The pics in my thread were shot in a dark room at night (so no secondary light came through the windows) with the white balance on the camera set to Tungsten. The lighting for each pic was one lamp shot through the diffuser aimed at the diorama. No other light was on in the room.

Frank feel free to comment as you are the master & I am grasshopper.

Amazing shots and amazing figures. I had the chance to see one up close yesterday and almost pulled the trigger and bought it. (it was one of their early figures). The painting is simply outstanding. Brad
