Was interested in purchasing one of your Strata display cabinets. But none of your contact information on the website appears to work. Despite numerous attempts on my part.........

yes i am afraid we have had big problems with the website..not helped by me missing a digit of the contact phone number! however i will in future make better arrangements before i change isp service provider. geez those people can be touchy if you want to leave them...anyway its all sorted out now, so we are up and running again with all of our traditional products plus a few new offerings too.
sorry for any frustration caused. steve/tracey.

these are really nice! I am playing around with some wall hanging shadow boxes which are coming out very nicely. Not like yours though.

my daughter uses a lot of this type of display.. very modernistic and minimalist, clean lines and also very effective...that is a nice looking joint you have used, do pin it or just glue and clamps ? i noticed that the second box from the left jointed is differently from the others, i pressume you can do either method with the same lengths of wood..
steve

no need to pin unless I want the decorative effect, just clamps. They fit together very evenly and I use strap clamps for even pressure all the way around. Really simple, nice looking joint and very few people use it. Likely because setting it up is a pain in the butt.

And yes, same lengths can be used to join the pieces in a few different configurations. I personally like the staggered joins as only one sliver of end grain shows on each side.

i use v nails and mitre joints as a rule with my traditional wooden cabinets, i may have a go at your joint method sometime though, but looking at it i think that the most important thing is to have no variation at all in the woods thickness ? because i put a pictureframe and glass panel on to some of my cases you would see the difference along the dead squared pictureframe panel.
just a thought...

this bottom picture is the very latest traditional display cabinet all ready to to cumbria later today, the top pictured showcase is my latest design (still i development) of my more modern wood/acrylic toy soldier wall mountable cabinets.

yes, all material has to be the same thickness otherwise you'll have to adjust the bit height and depth, adding that extra step. it can be done easily enough but it's not really efficient if you're making a batch of them.
