Pictures of new Field Kitchen (2 Viewers)

Ana, that field kitchen is one of the most remarkable things I've seen. I bought it of course. It reminds me of a field kitchen that an uncle of mine had when I was a kid. Whenever I look at it I'm sure it will remind me of the days I spent with him -- he was like a second father to me -- so thanks a million for making that.

Brad-
That's an interesting connection. Did he operate one in some capacity? I caught a glimpse of the German one on the history channel recently and HB appears to have nailed the likeness.

Doug,

He didn't operate one. We used to live overseas and when we came back on homeleave every two years, we would stay with my aunt (my father's sister) and uncle in Long Island. I would sleep on the couch and right above the couch there was a small wooden case holding the toy soldiers my uncle used to play with when he was a kid in the 1910s. One of these was the field kitchen. It used to have one of those chimney or exhaust stacks that folded back. They are great toys (his eldest son still has them) so the HB field kitchen reminded me of that field kitchen he had.

Was it one of those pre-war German Hausser or Elastolin tin and composition sets? You know that the equipment made by Hausser, be it a field kitchen or an artillery piece, was designed to work exactly like the real thing. The Nazi hierarchy insisted on this, as a means of pre-training the future soldiers. Calculating bastards.

I just took out the Field Kitchen from the box and put it on a shelf and this is military miniature that is so well thought out, sculpted and executed that it is almost beyond words. The cook holding the pipe, the expression on his face, the cat catching the rooster, it's all wonderful. I was particularly impressed with the cat because the sculptor captured the cat perfectly. We have cats and I've seen them doing that in going after a bird.

Ana, again, great job, and thank you.

I got the winter field kitchen today from George. Looks great as usual.

We finally received the Grey Field Kitchens yesterday. Right now they are the only Field Kitchens we have in stock - though more are on the way soon.
